anyone over 38 and ttc or have baby #2?

our lo is 8 mo and i will be 38 this april. part of me would love to have
a second. other times i get freaked out thinking about my age, money, our little apartment, the stress of two, etc.

my question is, if you are ttc or have #2 at age 38+ when/how did you know you were ready? i keep thinking there will be some sort of sign, or i should say i'm hoping for a sign. i really do bounce back and forth and feel like i should just know either way...but i don't yet.

i haven't posted in a long time, so i'm a little nervous about posting such a personal thread.

thanks

Hi :hi:

Im not quite same age ( im 36) and have 2 kids but thought i would post anyway.
I am also feeling same though thinking seriously about TTC #3 then getting cold feet but as you say only when it comes to money and housing ( i have just moved to brand new house 5 months ago) my house is 3 bedrooms so some one would have to share - that sounds ok but i have a DD 13 and DS 7 so thats when the sharing idea gets bit difficult.
I have really only been thinking about another child for last 4 months, came off BCP beginning of February and no idea what my cycles are like but been BD anyway.
I have some preg symptoms but as no idea when/if i ovulated then not sure what to think

Anyway sorry to go on and on but just wanted to reassure you that you not the only one worrying and wondering.

Jill x

I am 40 and my "LO" is now 20 LOL...not so little right?

I also started a thread about it https://www.babyandbump.com/trying-conceive-over-35/548629-ttc-after-20-years-starting-all-over.html

well how did I know? TIC TOC TIC TOC... that's how :winkwink: for years I thought "Oh well just one is fine" (especially through the teen years I was NOT Thinking of #2 LOL) and then I met my now husband who stater to talk to me about babies again and I do love the babies so it didn't take much to get me going again.

Wow now that is a FULL HOUSE!

Never a dull moment I'm sure. I admire you. My grandmother had 7 so I can imagine 9 has got to be something else :headspin:

btw...has anyone told you that with so many kids and after 35 your chances for multiples increase too? hehehe

Hi, you may remember me from ttc and the pregnancy forums with our first LO's!
We're very similar - Im also 38 (just turned 38 in February) and have a 9 month old.
Two months ago I announced to DH that I didnt think I wanted to have another child. He was disappointed, but accepting. He did however ask me to wait a bit and then decide.
Well, in those two months Ive changed my mind completely (with absolutely no pressure from DH), and I now want another one. Previously I was filled with dread at the prospect, but now Im filled with excitement again (just like the first time). We're going to start ttc in July :)
My age does freak me out a little bit, but not enough to stop me wanting another LO. For LO's part, he's sleeping better, and is much happier now he's crawling. Im finding it all a bit easier and much more enjoyable, and I think this has contributed to me changing my mind. How quickly we forget eh ;) HTH anyway xx

we're totally the same!!! crazy.
i'm going to see how i feel around my birthday in april into the summer. my top three concerns are:
my age, our small apartment and stress level (my husband works until 11pm 5 nights a week).
:dohh:

I am 38 ttc #4 my lo is just under 2 ttc for two months well if you call it that lol with three kids it is hard to find time to bd working and raising kids. so we are going to try harder next month!

I'm 42 and we are TTC our #2. Our first little boy was born (rather prem) after I turned 40.

How did we know when we were ready? We always wanted two children, but the last two years have been a bit of a whirlwind of medical appointments with Andrew's various problems. Now that he's had his second birthday, much of his care has passed from hospital departments to community specialists, which are far less onerous to manage (many of them come to our home). And as he gets older, he is a bit more independent and doesn't need our attention 24/7.

The trigger though was working out that we CAN fit both a cot and a toddler bed into our second bedroom, and buying a ladder (so that we can start storing outgrown things in the loft) and a shed (for larger stuff). We can now PRACTICALLy manage to have a second child in this small house.

So, given our mature ages, we figured we'd better start working on it :D
