has your scales got foot extensions on when using them on carpet? If not they'l give you wrong reading.
if your kitchen floor is slate or wooden without foot extensions im sure it would give you the correct reading.
ive got weight watchers scales, all digital 2 came with feet exentions which are both plastic, one came with none & was glass. The glass ones didn't work on carpet!
