have you gotten a SA for you OH? and have you done a full conception check-up that includes autoimmune testing, ovarian egg count and egg quality .....blood tests won't tell you a thing about blocked tubes, autoimmunity and egg quality/count stuff...

Havent had a SA yet .. he said he will get one in a couple months time... but he has a child already thats pretty young from a prev relationship so thats why we havent up until now...
and they wont check if my tubes are blocked etc for another year! as its the rule is 2 years of trying in my area and then they refer you on! ...
Iv had my FSH checked when i had cd3 bloodwork and It was 5.5 and Iv had day 21 bloods which were fine at 36nmol
Iv actually just moved area so I have to change doctors now aswell which may be a good thing as the only doc i like up my surgery is going to be leaving to have her baby

hi hun, its where they test your blood (for antibodies) to check if your body has immune problems that is stopping you from getting pregnant.
they check for Tissues Type Compatibility, Blood-Clotting Defects, Immunity to Pregnancy, Antibodies to Sperm, Natural Killer Cells and Antibodies to Hormones and Neurotransmitters..
put it simply - women produce antibodies like everyone else. But in many women, their bodies refuse to "recognize" and "accept" pregnancy because half of it is foreign material from the father. So once the immune system "finds" this fertilized egg, it rushes off the kill it because it sees it as a "threat". Or, the body refuses to let the sperm live and rushes off to kill off every sperm that enters the body so they have no chance. Or the body doesn't want to recognized the fertilized egg and instead of grabbing it to the womb, it has no receptivity and without uterine receptivity, the egg cannot implant by itself....

Sorry to butt in, but is this a 'normal' test for doctors to do?..When would they do one of these tests? Is the 'full conception check' a test they'd do after they checked your bloods for ov?... Thanks

Same here, I want to scream ( I would need a clear field tho) lol I've been TTC 2+ years, taken tablets, used preseed, used OPK's arggggggggghhhhh!!! X

Hi floofymad, I am based in Germany.
We don't have a "ruling" like you do.... but it usually like this:
First, gynae for basic preconception check-up. then it depends on the gynae.
He will ask you how long you've been trying, and if he suspects, based on your results and usually 10-12 months of not success for ladies below 35, that there could be an underlying problem that he cannot address to, he will refer you to the Fertility Clinics, which will continue on with testing. There fertility centers do stuff like IVF and special check-ups.
OR, lets assume a couple is BD-ing every 2 days for months and still no success and suspects something is wrong, they can walk into the fertility centre anytime they want for a consultation, which is paid for by health insurance. Then the FC will ask the same questions, and it depends how it goes from there. They won't turn anyone away and neither can they say "come back in 2 years" because there is no such ruling here in germany....
so we have the flexibility who we want to turn to, when we want to.

better then trying to read of the internet about it....what stuff do they actually do to have this tested?
Now I think about it a friend of my OH couldnt get preg cuz her body was killing the sperm!

I had basic bloods done at my local Doctors... but they wont refer me YET

They are changing (or have changed) the ruling soon so that you can register with any gp in any area without the need to live in that area anymore, I know a surgery near me is already accepting patients outside of the area. If the you haven't changed yet and it's not too far away, you might want to check ask them about it.

North East England. Not sure what the ruling is in my docs, but think they'd presume I was having probs due to my endo anyway.
Maybe you should change docs and ask somewhere else. Noone should have to wait 2 years.....

Im changing docs tonight to my local area as iv just moved, the one iv chose has a doc there that specialises in family planning and womens health, so fx she is better then my current one! just got to see if i can actually have her though!
Yeah, it's weird cause at my docs there's like hundreds of different doctors and I just ring up and they give me an appt with whoever's available, unless you actually specifically request someone. I always ask who it's with and if I recognise someone who's been horrible to me before, then I say I don't want that appt. Hardly ever seen the same person twice! x
