39, ministim and IUI

I'm 39 and ttc#1. I miscarried back in March and have not been able to get pregnant again (that one happened right away). I tried a month on 100mg clomid and while it did help my doctor said my ovulation was not as strong as he would like and he feels it's still too late in my cycle. So they are trying me on 100mg clomid days 3-7, then day 9 I do 150 units of gonal-F2, then ultrasound on day 12 to prepare for IUI. Has anybody had success with IUI or been through a similar process?

I am very sorry for your loss. It is tough but don't give up.

I have been through IUI but it was done with poor timing. I do believe it works though. I was so excited about it too. And maybe further down the road before I hit 42 (if I'm still at it), I would try it again.

The clomid really helped my follies grow so much till one cycle had to be cancelled because my Re didn't believe in multiples for pregnancy due to high risk pregnancy. I could understand that now but at the time I didn't have any kids so I was all for it.

I really hope you are successful in producing some good follies this go around. One recommendation is to not use any NSAIDS while you are on clomid. I use to all the time because ovulation pain was and still is the pits for me. I learned it stops the swelling which is needed as your follies are growing. I've been sucking it up ever since ttc#2.

Cd4 now so I'm on my second clomid dose at 100 mg (taking it cd3-7.)

Oh I wish I had known about the NSAIDS yesterday. I have such a terrible headache and all I had was Advil so I took some. I gave up completely all caffeine, of which I didn't drink much, and all alcohol (so no occasional pre-ovulation glass of wine) . I'm not sure if it's the caffeine or the clomid giving me the headache but last time thecomid gave me awful heaches.

He didn't up my dose from last time. Apparently it helped my ovulation but not as much as he wanted to see. I also started taking Vitex.
