3D scan.. Absolutely gutted :( anyone been the same?

I was disappointed with our 3D scan too
The first time, baby was folded in half (feet and hands in front of face) with her face jammed into my placenta near my spine and sleeping...she refused to wake up during the entire 30 min scan
We had to re-book and they were nice enough to do it for free, but my parents had come from out of town for the first one and couldnt make it back for the re-book which really sucked
When we went in for the re-book, she was still in a similiar position but at least she was awake so we were able to get a few shots of her (the tech tried SO hard to get her to move), but still really disappointing that we didn't get to see much

I too have had a bad experience with peek a view in glasgow. I paid the scan and booked for around 26 weeks, when we went was told baby lying against lining of womb and couldnt get a great picture. Images printed were very poor quality also. I complained and was told to rebook the next week and again once again placenta was now in the way therefore couldnt get great pics. Today i went back, baby is in best position, im now 33 weeks, baby still very active and in the proper head down facing out the way position, yet i was still told that they couldnt get a great pic. I was given 2 terrible pictures. The dvd i have been given is terrible, infact the worst i have seen. I have given up, i complained via email after my first scan and they are not interested. They are so unprofessional and im not convinced the sonographers are qualified. Best tip i could give anyone is to keep their cash and spend on something the baby needs. Biggest waste of money iv spent.

Before you get scanned you should drink plenty of fluids the week before and that will help with the clarity. If you see the tech scanning you on the left side and she is not getting any pics ask if you can lay on your side. Chances are you will get pics. Alot of techs don't know what they are doing sometimes and it's because of poor training. I"m a technician and when doing 3d/4d I'm able to get 13 out of 16 scans in one day. There's a lot of factors which can make it hard to see the baby. I always say go in at 28 weeks , the latest 32 weeks. Alot of these places will say you can come in at 22 weeks for 3d and latest 36 weeks. at 22 weeks it can be really hard to see the baby and at 36 weeks your amniotic fluid levels will not be on the high end and the baby will be too big to see. Sometimes body composition is a factor and i tend to turn them on the side and that helps 80 percent of the time. Sometimes the placenta is in the face, could be anterior or posterior , it doesn't matter of position. Its your babies position and yes it could make it hard to see if the baby squishes its face up into the placenta. That's another reason i scan with patients on the their sides. You see there always has to be fluid in front of babies face to get a pic, with out it the image would be distorted. I also always tell my patients to drink orange juice 20 minutes prior to appt. That way the baby is not sleeping and i could move the baby around. It's hard work getting good images and as a tech you need to know all the tricks.

I had this with my son.
He kept burying His face in the placenta they made me eat some chocolate and drink a fizzy drink and I did some starjumps lol to get him moving.we did manage to get some
Great photos in the end and it was a lovely experience but at first I was really worried we weren't going to get any pics!
Have something sugary before u go next time!xx

Yes we had ours last Saturday - it had been booked for 4 weeks and I was counting down each day. Drank the 3l of water per day for a week like I was told, took hubby and Mum along and baby was curled up as tightly as could be with her arms over her face and knees up to her chest.
The lady gave me ice cold water to drink - nothing, then got to me get on all fours to move her - nothing, sent me on a brisk walk round the block but when we got back, she had just curled up even tighter! I was told they would give me a 'mini' gold package at $180 instead of $230 (ehhh, don't think so!) or could come back free of charge so we're going back this Saturday. What was maddening was as soon as we got out the scan place I felt her totally change positon and move around/kick. Naughty baby!

I practically begged for 1 pic and this was the best one. Not as clear as other 3d scans I've seen.......
Oh and I have an anterior placenta. On the plus side she said my fluid was excellent.

It was with peek a view baby scanning.. They have a branch in Glasgow too so I'm gonna get my next appointment there coz I really didn't like the girl.. Felt she could have tried a bit harder to at least show us something!
I was told the best time to do it was between 27 and 30 weeks too.. Coz then baby would be too big but she said hopefully the placenta will get pushed up.

Had to come out to the shops to get away from the hubby.. Either that or we're gonna have a massive blow out!!!

Seen ur in Glasgow, I went to peek a view and wasn't really impressed with it all, it's not even a floor in a building it's a room next to a canteen.

I phoned up to book my appointment and they wanted 130 or something for a crap package but baby scanning was doin it cheaper.

So once I metioned that they offered me 4 pictures as a cd rom of the pics to beat baby scanning and gave me the package for £100.

I went at 25 weeks 2 days and fair enough my baby was very active but she didn't really go out her way to make it a memorable experience.

But she did give me a DVD, 6 pics, cd Rom and done the fetal sexing too all for £100 but on the DVD I have someone else's baby on the DVD too. My pictures weren't great. Don't get me wrong it was great to see him but my best experience was at babes in the womb on Edinburgh. Well worth the travel, 2 pictures for £95 but do offer better cheaper packages too x

I too call BS on the placenta being in the way. I have an anterior placenta too and have had about 8 scans from 8-29 weeks (some I volunteered for and some were at my drs office and one I paid for (the gender scan)

Some of them were 3d/4d and admittedly the quality was a little worse but I was still able to see things just fine.


ETA: I actually found the scans where I hadn't had a full bladder had better quality then the ones where I did.. just saying.

Call them and tell them since you were denied an ultrasound at their practice that you want a recommendation for another clinic you can get a "second opinion" done at. They'll change their act quickly. I wouldn't be surprised if they tell you to come right on back in so that they can get your money instead of someone else!
