3rd Pregnancy but not showing - slightly panicking

I am 12 weeks pregnant with my 3rd baby. I have 2 sons, 4 and 1 and have had 2 miscarriages in between. With both my boys i showed from around 8-10 weeks. I never had any morning sickness but did suffer with terrible migraines.

This time round i have had constant sickness, where i have been physically sick most days, my appetite has less than halved and i have a permanent migraine. I am panicking though as i am not showing in the slightest. I had a scan about 3 weeks ago as i was unsure of my dates as i had a miscarriage literally the cycle before i fell pregnant this time. Everything looked good and there was a nice strong heartbeat and they said i was between 8.5 and 9.5 weeks. I am going back on Wednesday for another scan and for the nuchal test. But i have am having nightmares that they will find i have had another miscarriage.

The midwife came last Friday and managed to hear the heartbeat via a doppler, which did help to reassure me, but the fact that i have no bump is really worrying me.

Am i right to be cautious or is it normal to not have a bump, after showing really early previously?

You might just be having a little girl. My sister didn't show when she was pregnant with my niece until she was 14 weeks pregnant, but when she had all 3 of my nephews she was showing around 9 and 10 weeks every time. I wouldn't worry, but I would bet on you having a little girl!

Every pregnancy is different! And keep in mind that any bump a woman has before 12 weeks has absolutely nothing to do with the uterine size... it's primarily just bloat and fat and insides that the growing uterus is pushing out of the way. The uterus itself doesn't actually go above and beyond the pubic bone until 12 weeks unless there are other factors involved like ovarian cysts, fibroids or twins.

So the most likely explanation is that this time around you're not as bloated as you were in previous pregnancies. Nothing to worry about one little bit! You have absolutely no reason to believe that your babe is nothing but happy and healthy in there!

Im on my 3rd child as well and im not showing at all, we must have good muscles, thats what I keep telling myself anyway.

yeah agreed my bump is just bloat and mush right now - I want a real one! My fiance loves it but i just want it to be replaced by the real thing! Im sure you will get a proper bump soon - have you seen amazing pregnancy pictures website? Some women are like 20 weeks and you can see no bump or anything!

I had my scan yesterday and all looks great. I am 12+6 and the baby was wriggling around. I am so relieved. The hospital took my weight and i have lost 7lbs from my pre-pregnancy weight, so they said that that would probably equate to nearer a stone as i would have gained a bit with now being 3 months pregnant. I am now just excited about our new arrival and the prospect of getting a new bump!

congrats, sometimes we worry over nothing. I had lost 6lbs from 5 weeks up to 12 weeks, and loads of people have noticed. Its starting to creep back on now.
