My mom has been offering to watch my daughter every so often so I can go out for a little bit, I haven't really been pumping but have pumped a little before going out so my mom can feed her, but I can't get more than 1.5 oz each time I pump. That's both boobs for 15-30 minutes.

Lo is fine eating, no signs of being frustrated or underfed. But it's hard to build a stash if I can barely get anything.

For those who are exclusively breastfeeding and only pump once in a while, how much do you get? I going to start drinking tea and taking fenugreek to hopefully get more!

I tend to get about 3-4oz from each breast. But I've only pumped a couple of times as DD won't take a bottle at all. :(

Last night she slept for 7 hours so when I woke up my left boob was SO sore. I let DD feed and then pumped as it was still really full. Managed to get 2oz and that's gone into the freezer to start my stash off.

If your ebf and pumping, 1.5oz is pretty good. Because if you think about it whatever you pump is extra. If you want to build up a stash I'd just pick a time and pump once a day. That'll help build your supply up slowly. :)

I started building up a stash by feeding LO only on one side during the night and then pumping the other side first thing in the morning. I can get anywhere from 5-8 oz usually which really adds up if you do it every day!

Are you sure that you are using the right size shields? That can be a reason women don't pump more. And what kind of pump are you using?

Honestly 1.5 oz is on the lower side but it's not insurmountable by any means. Obviously your LO is well nourished so it has nothing to do with your supply. Some women just don't respond as well to the pump. If you pump regularly, especially if you can do it at the same time every day, you should notice a substantial increase within a couple of weeks.

My LO is a month and in the morning I can pump around 4oz from the side I don't BF with. I am trying to build my supply though, so maybe this has been from my extra pumping? I have been freezing extra milk for nights I want to go out down the road. Randomly I can usually pump 2oz from each breast...

This is exactly what I did  I pump first thing every morning. I'm so sore some mornings, I make a mad dash for that pump!! :haha: On those mornings I can usually get lots but on normal days I can get 4-5oz before I stop. It helps to compress your boob and kinda squeeze it from the top of your boob and go down towards your nipple.

I also write it down on my calender how much I've pumped. That way I know the exact amount that's in my freezer without having to dig through the freezer and actually count and add oz 's

According to Kellymom 0.5-2oz is average. (From both breasts not just one) Sounds like your doing fine!

I accidentally skipped a side last night in my sleep and was able to pump around 5 oz in the morning! I was glorious! Hahah

Skipping at night and pumping in the morning won't effect my supply will it? Do you change which boob you skip each night? Or do you use the same one every night?

I just don't want my body to say "okay folks she's not using the right boob at night so lets remove the milk supply!" Or something like that.. Hah

Also I didn't know there were different shields. I could probably stand to use a smaller one! And I use a medela swing

It hasn't affected my supply. I've been doing that for a couple months now. I think as long as you empty your breast you should be okay. I do try to alternate which is the "feeding" boob and which is the "pumping" boob but it doesn't always work out that way.

I don't pump very often but when I do (say around three hours since LO fed) I get about 3oz. But I have to work hard to get it: I have to think about bf-ing LO and look at pictures of him on my phone etc in order to get let down. Sometimes I've pumped and only got around 1.5oz. I have a Medela Swing also.

My daughter has her fav side (it's also the easiest to feed her while laying down at night :winkwink: ) so I mainly just pump the left side. I think my boob has actually gotten used to it (same avg time every morning). Then when she wakes up, I feed her from her fav side and then the next feeding I give her the side that I pumped from. No complaints from her yet  I'm a bit lopsided at times but pumping has helped even things out abit now since she really doesn't like eating from the left side. :dohh:

Congrats on the 5oz Foxy :happydance: You might get different amounts on different days but it adds up quick!!

Sometimes I'll sit back and stare at my full bottle of milk and feel so proud and accomplished, it's almost embarrassing

Does anyone know how much a breastfed baby usually takes in a day? I was curious how many days worth of breast milk I might have. :flower:

I think the range is 18-32 oz in a 24 hour period. My LO takes 4 or 5 4oz bottles while I'm gone to work (about 13 hours) and also nurses once before I go to work then once or twice after work. I estimate that he probably gets 24-28 oz per day. This could be totally wrong since I've never bottle fed him for a whole 24 hour period.

If I pump I usually get 3-4 oz. I always do it in the morning as was told this is best time for expressing! I have tried a cpl of Time to express at different times of day. But only get 1-2oz if do at any other time

I work part-time. On the days I'm home with baby, I pump first thing in the morning and at night right before bed, and usually get 10-12 ounces both sessions combined (feeding baby directly the rest of the day).

On days I work, I'm basically an exclusive pumper, and I pump about 12 ounces more than my baby drinks.

But, if I try to pump after a feed, I will normally only get 2 ounces, so sounds like you are about right!
