Hi there. I'm 40 wks today and just had an appointment with my dr. He said I'm 1-2 cm dilated and he could feel baby's head. I've heard you can be 1-2 cms for weeks. He said my cervix is soft and doesn't think I will go over my due date (aug 18th). He figured the next few days. I don't feel any signs of labor coming on and feel 1-2 cms isn't that much. Do you think it's possible I could have my baby in the next few days like the dr thinks?

Anything is possible Hun. You could end up needing to be induced at 42 + weeks or u could deliver tomorrow, kind of impossible to say. Dilation doesn't mean much as u can stay that way for weeks! My dr could have felt my dd's head at 38 weeks last pregnancy and by the time I went into labor she went back up lol. Hoping for u it happens soon!!! Xx

With my first I was 1-2cm and 50% for a couple of weeks and the had her at 38+3...
My second I was 2cm and like 80% for 2 weeks and had him at 37+6....

And this one I was 2-3cm & 50% at 36 weeks
3cm & 60% and 37 weeks
And Monday at 38 weeks I was 4cm and 70% effaced... and everytime she can for sure feel baby's head!
It really is different for everyone and every pregnancy ... I hope you have you baby soon! good luck:)

im 40 weeks today too and also 1 1/2cm dilated , soft cervix, and 50% effaced. that was on tuesday. still no baby :(

Had my appointment today Im 3 cm dilated 50% effaced...last pregnancy I was 4 cm dilated for 2 weeks...so who knows lol

From my understanding, those numbers don't mean anything as far as when you'll go into labor. Things can happen take awhile or they can happen very quickly.

Some people with your numbers may go quickly while others may take awhile. I don't think there is really any predicting when you'll go in labor by dilation and effacement.
