hi im 41 weeks today and midwife came to do a sweep but she could reach my cervix which she said is posterior she booked me in to be induced in 5 days. is there any chance i could still go into natural labour?

will i more likely end up with a c section due to induction failing because of a high cervix?

You could go naturally absolutely, I was in your situation with first child 3 yrs ago, exact same gestation, sweep, failed, booked to be induced. Naturally went into labour in hospital, 1 hour before due to be induced! Not over til its over good luck, it is really possible :) xx

Yes! This exact same thing happened to me with my son. I went to the MW in the morning and she couldn't find my cervix. I left the midwife that morning thinking there was no hope and went into (latent) labour later that day. y the afternoon I had (some of) my bloody show and started contracting. It was a bit start/stop for me and took a while to get going but I went into natural labour with him after I thought it would be ages away.

good luck!
xx

I was the same with #1, had my sweep 40+3. Was booked for inducement at 41+3 and showed up at hospital on that day in labour, they thought i had arrived for my inducement!

Yep - don't stress. In some countries, your due date isn't until 42wks so you wouldn't even be overdue yet.

Babies can change very suddenly: I was told at 40+0 that there was no way the baby was coming soon, and I went into labour about 8hrs later... Five days is a long time for things to happen in.

My SIL refused induction as baby was doing fine, she carried to 43 weeks and went into labor naturally and had no problems delivering naturally. As long as baby is ok I wouldn't let them induce me... Just my opinion...

I was the same as you, went for a sweep at 40+5 and the mw couldn't do it cos closed cervix and high, came home devastated, the next day my waters randomly exploded! So it can still happen, just keep active!

:hugs: you have plenty of time!! cervix can change quite rapidly, too

good luck! :flower:
