Love that response Bunni!! Overweight does not = unhealthy!! in fact, more often than not people who are thin are less healthy than those who are heavy!!

and no big parents does not mean big kids....that's just a load of crap!

Wow...I still can't believe that lady came on here to be rude like that. May God touch her heart and make her realize that it is in no way constructive or helpful to anyone to have an attitude like that.

By the way, please add me, as I am in the BMI 31 category, so classified overweight and TTC #1

I have been TTC with assistance for 1 month, but (for what I call in vain because of no ovulation) for 2 years.

I am on day 32 and I tested last night and BFN so I will be calling my doctor to let him know so he can confirm it and we can induce a period and try another cycle on 100mg of clomid (which is double what i took this month)

I'll keep you posted when I have more info and I start my next cycle =)

Hi Everyone

I've been on a little healthy eating diet for the past 3 weeks after finding that at 190 pounds (13.6 stone) I was classed as obese and had a BMI of 30.7.
I was pretty shocked that my weight was that, and my family had an intervention with me because my weight seemed to be spiralling out of control, I used to be a slim UK size 10 only 3 years ago and am now a size 18/20.
So I cut out a lot of the snacks, I only ate when I got hungry and am still classed as overweight but not obese, I'm now 176 pounds (12.6 stone) its still not good but I hope if I can lose another 28pounds (2 stones) I'll be back in the healthy catagory.

My weight had been really getting me down.

I remember when I first put on weight and I felt really healthy and didn't mind carrying a bit of extra cushioning, but then I started comfort eating, I never thought of how many calories were in anything or what I was doing to myself, I just sat and ate and got that initial high of eating something nice.

I think its ok to be a bit bigger if you still feel healthy and your weight hasn't become an issue, for me it had become an issue.

:) xxx

I feel exactly the same way leopardprint, you are not alone in this struggle. Last time I had seriously weighed myself was when I was years ago when I was a consistant 180. I was on the heavy side of overweight tipping into obese but I looked good, turned a lot of heads, and was happy and relatively healthy. I stopped weighing myself for years and the pounds crept up until one day I stepped on the scale a year ago to find myself at 215lbs. It was the worst day of my life. I've worked really hard since then to get down to 190lbs and it is a daily struggle.

What I have come to learn is that the only way to lose weight is to count calories. I don't believe that anybody can reach 215lbs by eating a healthy diet unless you eat too much of a good thing. Losing weight is as simple as burning more calories than you ingest. Unless there are extrenuous circumstances like thyroid problems, diabetes, or PCOS among other things, the reality is that we can all lose weight if we restrict some calories and increase calorie burn. I really think that's something to celebrate.

i am probably classed as morbidly obese as i am 17stone or nearly 18 sorry i dont know what that is in lbs , but i am healthy i used to be a size 12 uk sizes and i looked at a old pic of me and i look anorexic on that photo wher as i look "normal" now,my hubby loves me and says he likes to grab hold of summat lol , i have been ttc for about 4 monhts properly now and been bdin every day this month so hoping to get bfp it doesnt matter what your weigt is as my aunt is about twice my size and got preg with my cousins no problems

Try :sex: every other night :) It allows the sperm to grow properly, when you :sex: everynight the sperm are not fully mature and are useless, and when you go more than 3 days without :sex: the sperm or dead or damaged and do no good either

The SMEP says to start at the 8th night and :sex: every other night then 3 days before you ovuate, the day you ovuate, skip a day and one more time :)

However USMC Wifey posted a link where she can email you a book which was loaded with lots of info and it stated to start with the 7th night and :sex: every other night until the 21st or 23rd depending on your cycle.

Just trying to give you ladies some helpful information so we can get our :bfp:

Looks like someone signed up for an account to come on here and follow her friend possibly, we all know we are STRONG, BEAUTIFUL woman who all have one passion and desire together and that is to get our :bfp: and be a mom!!!

That being said lets maybe all make a goal and share it with each other to motivate each other to lose weight, what do you say? Bunni does a GREAT job with the TTC end and I will can help on the weight end

Let me know what you ladies think? I feel like God is really working within this group :)

thanks mzitalian for the info . my gynae said to do it at least 3 times a week but if we can manage it once a day then that would be better so just going on doctors orders lol

I'm five foot five and weight 15 stone 10 (210lbs) and my BMI is 34.9 and all the doctors do for me is give me pills to help me lose weight but it's only now after 2 years that they've referred me to someone who can help me with my weight, none of them have taken my PCOS into account :/ I'm trying really heard to drop down to about 13 stone before they're happy, even though I carry my weight very well...but at this rate I might not have to...there's already a chance that I'm pregnant *touch wood*....I know people far bigger and unhealthier than me who have got children or are pregnant and I hope that every woman here gets her positive pregnancy test soon :)

The problem is a lot of people do have extrenuous circumstances. I started putting on weight when I was the most healthy in my life. I walked at least 3 hours a day and watched what I ate very carefully. Even though I was very depressed I kept at it. Eventually I was hospitalized and put on a low calorie diet and I still kept up the walking while I was in there. In total I put on 75 lbs. I have PCOS and while I am not as 'healthy' as I was then it is quite possible to pack on the pounds while following a strictly regulated medical diet. I am not much bigger now then when I got very frustrated and stopped being as careful about what I eat. In order for myself to lose weight I have to put in a tremendous effort and even then it is a slow process.

This group is for overweight women to get together and support each other while ttc it is not for people to be negative and put down other women. Please Please if u don't have something nice to say just keep it to yourself. Every overweight person out there knows that being overweight is not healthy we don't need to hear it anymore. Putting ourselves down and hating ourselves for being overweight will not make us healthier.

By the way please add be bunni I have been ttc for 2 months now I am currently 9or10dpo and will be testing Fri or Sat. I am tring for number3.

Actually, this apparently only just became a 'group'. Bunni girl began with a question - is it possible to be overweight and get pregnant. She answered her own question in her first post, by saying I see overweight people get pregnant all the time.
I read a few of the posts and saw people saing yes, of course you can but that was already known as bunnigirl herself said. I posted a link from the NYtimes that I had recently read RE weight and pregnancy on future obesity (childhood). That was all. Went back a bit later and saw that Bunnigil had a bit of a tantrum over it. I would not have bothered to write more except for that. Same reason I am writing now. It seems some people do not want to move on.
Being Fat is not healthy. I never said Anorexia or underweight was either. Common sense really. To whoever said, why do I not make the same comments to anorexics or crackheads - show me the posts on ttc while a crackhead? Seriously:shrug: I Just had read an article and thought would share - I shared it elsewhere on the forum as well. I had no intentions of geting in a debate but if someone shouts at me and makes insinuations I will answer. If people are offtended that on a topic of ttc overweight, I shared a recent article on that topic then I am sorry If I offended anyone.
I have been accused of saying things I did not say and have had parts of what I said taken out of context. I am posting now as someone told me my previous posts are still a topic for discussion and some people are taking quotes out of context. If you want to make this a ttc while overweight group - please. But if you want to leave it the original thread - then I will answer your responses to my posts as it seems you are a bit befuddled by them. If not then move on with your new group.

i myself am overweight, i am quite aware that being overweight when pregnant has some added health risks both for myself and for my future baby

however, does this mean i have to try and try to loose weight and never succeed the 'normal' weight bracket by which time i could probably give up on wanting to have a child

i am sure that most people know the risk and i personaly don't see the point of posting a link to any article stating out a fact that all of us know and have probably already worried and fought to change in someway for a long time

why should other people be given the blessing to try for a child when i can't - does this mean i don't have the babies best interest at heart or i won't be a good mother no

by the time my bmi is in the normal range i would probaly had gone through the menopause - jk

if people don't like a thread availiable for overweight people ttc then please leave us alone and donlt join in

rant over :dohh:

So I shouild not post a link showing recent medical findings? (BTW there was an open question in the original thread whose title has since been changed). By posting the link of recent medical finding - does that mean I should be attacked? And when attacked I should not defend myself? Did you read the link you said I should not post? I never said, I liked or disliked the thread - I just decided to share info which apparently is a no-no despite that is what we seem to do alot on the site. Who said you should not try to have a child? I thought the link was useful as it gave guidlines on safe(er) weight gain ranges in pregnancy. Because there is an added risk for metabolic disorders in your child if you are Already overweight.

While genes play a role in weight issues for some people, recent studies indicate that genetics is not the main reason babies are born too fat. Rather, the new evidence suggests that in addition to gaining significantly more weight than is recommended during pregnancy, more women now start out fatter before they become pregnant.

Because birth weight tends to predict body mass index later in life, “these findings suggest that excessive weight gain during pregnancy could raise the long-term risk of obesity-related disease in offspring,” the authors concluded in their report, published online in The Lancet on Aug. 5.

This study, published in Circulation in June, found that a woman’s weight before pregnancy was even more important than excessive weight gain during pregnancy in predicting a number of risks for the baby: birth complications, excessive baby fat and “metabolic abnormalities associated with poor health outcomes, including childhood obesity,”

Now if you read the whole article there are recomendations of how much weight gain is safe in pregnancy based on your weight at the begining of pregnancy. If people find that insulting rather than useful - sorry.

i for 1 found it very useful so thank you.:flower:

Hi bunnigirl and everyone, I only just realised this had become a group, I think it's a great Idea. Can you add me on please? I am TTC # 2 only in my first cycle, I am due to test around the 12th OCT though I haven't OV yet so maybe a day or 2 later.
:dust: :D & goodluck all.

Wasn't the original post a question about women trying to get pregnant while overweight? It seems reasonable that there would be people posting articles related to this issue. It adds reference to the topic and is good common sense.

There has been references made that Cedarwood is a troll when in fact she is a long standing member of the site and was clearly not making any attacks on anyone. She was simply stating an opinion backed up by reference. And I am not anybody's personal friend here, I am a new member who is feeling utterly unwelcome. Being overweight and TTC is a very serious issue to me, one I'm constantly battling. The topic of discussion seems to have changed from a very legitimate issue of obesity and pregnancy to some kind of misguided cheering club for "healthy" obesity. I am in the range of early obesity, I am trying to conceive a child, but I don't want any part of a group that celebrates obesity, ignores the facts related to obesity and treats members of the forum with such disrespect. Cedarwood's comments were not disrespectful to anybody, but the responses to her post were incredibly immature and of the bully mentality.
