The topic of discussion seems to have changed from a very legitimate issue of obesity and pregnancy to some kind of misguided cheering club for "healthy" obesity. I am in the range of early obesity, I am trying to conceive a child, but I don't want any part of a group that celebrates obesity, ignores the facts related to obesity and treats members of the forum with such disrespect. Cedarwood's comments were not disrespectful to anybody, but the responses to her post were incredibly immature and of the bully mentality.

I do not think that this club cheers healthy obesity. Is it really so wrong for people to want to get together and talk about their struggles with weight in relation to TTC without having the negativity? People don't ban together to be chastized and told what they already know - that being overweight is unhealthy. Many of us are currently trying to lose weight. Such negativity could compromise some people's efforts. People need a positive and supporting atmosphere in this journey, not this conflict. There are ways to be supportive for people who are overweight and supportive ways to help them. Posting what people already know (that is is unhealthy) and focusing on that will only be a detriment.

Actually, the link is one example - there has been research around for awhile that being overweight can have a negative effect through the generations. Eating too little can have a negative health effect as well. Both common sense really. No one said a smaller person, who eats too much in pregnancy cannot have a big baby - of course they can.
I imagined the topic of weight would be contentious but it is for your future childs health not just your own. The I am fat and proud movement forgets the health aspect sometimes.[/QUOTE]

I don't think it was a problem anyone had with ANYTHING against your link to an article for addional medical insight on TTC, Pregnancy and weight, HOWEVER you went beyond that article with personal opinions such as the last line of this reply, it appears you deleted your original post. The article itself was useful but the comments were hurtful especially being some on here I am sure have battled weight their whole life. NO ONE IS PROUD TO BE FAT. For me personally it was a shock that you were making personal attacks against someone being overweight and TTC, End of Story :) We all are here to support eachother and not be negative. You have gave great insight on other threads I have been involved with but I think with this one it was very cold. I hope you have a blessed day and :dust: to you! :flower:

Grrrr, I still dont know how to just quote part of something, this was off a quote of Cedarwood's

Wasn't the original post a question about women trying to get pregnant while overweight? It seems reasonable that there would be people posting articles related to this issue. It adds reference to the topic and is good common sense.

There has been references made that Cedarwood is a troll when in fact she is a long standing member of the site and was clearly not making any attacks on anyone. She was simply stating an opinion backed up by reference. And I am not anybody's personal friend here, I am a new member who is feeling utterly unwelcome. Being overweight and TTC is a very serious issue to me, one I'm constantly battling. Well I am glad that you 3 have your own fan club! No one is cheering in here, in fact if you read the post's everyone has been talking about losing weight and ways we can help eachother were brought up. Therefore it sounds like a support group to me like just like their are groups for woman over a certain age, woman who all will test together, etc. There are different reasons people feel comfortable around eachother and the fact that this was OLD news and the few of you have come back in here to start it over again shows your maturity and mentality. Again have a blessed day :flower:

I'd like to join your group. I've been TTC for 2 years- fell pregnant 3 times but ended due to 1 ectopic and 2 miscarraiges. I'm now on my 5th cycle since my last miscarriage... I'm on CD 13 and plan to test on Oct 17th.

Hello all can i join your little group? I am also TTC while being overweight and on a healthy diet at the same time to lose weight. I am 5ft8 and 14.3st so BMI is 30 i have been TTC since Oct 08 and had two MC's. Currently i am on CD6 and hope to be testing around the 27th.

Just caught up on the whole thread... I don't want to add fuel to the flames but I do want to say that there is nothing wrong with us being proud of ourselves. We are beautiful women with a lot of love and positivity to share. Just because we are fat does not mean that we should not be proud of whom we are or that we should change our goals in life...

My DR is not concerned with my weight because overall I am HEALTHY <-- this is the word my DR used. Losing weight is not a bad thing and most likely a good thing for me to do but my DR is NOT concerned with my health and even told me NOT to obsess with counting calories. Just to make sure I choose the right foods and remain active.

I drag myself down EVERYday because of my weight. I hate being fat, I don't enjoy it. But I have a right to be proud of who I am and what I want to be- no matter what my size is. I certainly wouldn't begrudge anyone else happiness because of their appearance.

So while this thread may have started with a question regarding weight and pregnancies it has developed into a group of like-minded ladies with similar goals in life. We deserve this and should have it without continued disruptions. I think the whole feeling of the group has been we are ready to let this on-going drama die and move on with a wonderful caring group of ladies to bond and share like-experiences with.

I am confused on why the other ladies continue to come by when it is very clear their repeated message is known but not agreed upon and not wanted in this group. I feel confident saying that we would all welcome ANYONE, despite their size, opinions or beliefs as long as they came around in a supportive and positive manner in relation to what this board has now become (not what it was or has been). But continuing to argue a moot point that we have continued to say is hurtful and not PRODUCTIVE for us is not what I am looking for here, would the rest of you agree?

Hi, I'm new.
I am overweight and currently 6 weeks pregnant. I've been battling my weight all my life. I was trying to lose before getting pregnant, and my doctor told me that while my weight was on the high side, he didn't see anything wrong with me getting pregnant and having a baby.

Congrats on your pregnancy!!!

I think I have to be the most impatient person. I'm at a two week wait limbo. BFN yesterday but my period is late. Cervis is still high and I'm very crampy. I'm afraid it is my pcos acting up and that the metformin isn't doing as good a job as I though it it was. :(
