im wondering how mine is going to go because i know they make u pee in a cup but then im supposed to have a full bladder for the ultrasound and i need a paps too so im thinking either there going to have me pee in a cup then do the paps and drink water or get tricky only pee a little bit do the ultrasound then paps...i worry to much! i just want a really clear pic of little bean since the last time i seen it, it only looked like a dark blob.

I would think they will take a wee sample after your scan love - that's what happened for me. It makes no sense to make you go to the loo before your scan as like you say you need a nice full bladder. Your local pharmacy might be able to give/sell you a sample bottle so you could take your wee sample with you and save you having to do it in the loos at the hospital!

Hey

Mind if I pop in?

DH and I have been TTC for 19mths and have been seen by our NHS subfertility clinic. All my blood tests and scans have been normal, I ovulate every month and DH's SA was also fine. I'm 39 (40 in June!) and DH just turned 35. We got engaged in July 2009 and started TTC immediately and got married on our 4th anniversary in July 2010.

At the last appointment on the 1st Feb the consultant basically said that they believe my weight is the issue. My DH is slim and "normal" but I'm a very big girl or "morbidly obese" according to the clinic nurse - hey, it's not like I don't have a mirror lol. They will let me have an HSG (hopefully next month) but have said that if any blockages show up then they will not intervene as they don't perform a laparoscopy on morbidly obese women due to dangers of complications.

So, with no further help medically on the horizon, I now need to concentrate on losing some weight if I want to have a baby. I can't help but feel that my weight is being used as a scapegoat but I am going to do what I can.

Anyone else in the same boat? Would love to have some moral support xx

Hey love! I'm sure that for some women weight can be an issue when ttc, but I'm living proof that it's not always a problem. I was 20stone 6lbs when I conceived. It's so easy for health professionals to blame everything on weight and it makes me mad sometimes.

In fact my whole pregnancy was pretty much problem free apart from m/s and heartburn - I'm very lucky compared to what a lot of "normal" sized women go through.

I hope you get lucky and conceive really soon - good luck love xxxxx

Whats your bmi tigger? I had a lap when my bmi was 36. My bmi is now 31 and im having another in 2 weeks.

X

Welcome Tigger!

I had a lap along with a myomectomy. I am what is considered obese myself. I am not pregnant yet, but my FS is very encouraging insisting I can get pregnant. I agree with Betty that weight is an easy scapegoat. "Take charge of your fertility", by seeking a second opinion and/or trying on your own.

I am also trying to lose weight to make it easier for me, hubby and baby(ies) in the long run. However, don't stop trying. Nature and all its wonders may surprise you!

Good luck and Baby wishes to ya!

Woohoo, I got my lab test results back! All good news - everything is good and no gestational diabetes :happydance:
And my ultrasound is Monday :happydance:

I have been so very lucky that my medical providers have not used my weight as a scapegoat. I am a Big Beautiful Woman TTC #4. I have been induced(#1), scheduled Ceserian(#2), and an all natural VBAC(#3). If I can do it, SO CAN YOU!!!!!!

PLEASE ADD ME TO YOUR THREADS!!!! I'm roughly 6 weeks pregnant, size 22 BMI 45. I have my booking appointment this afternoon and really panicking about what midwife will say. It seems as though the whole health service are so against overweight people sometimes, I really feel for your quest Tig x

My longest cycle was 38 days I think, I used to have really short ones, like 10 days too. So god knows how you feel.

They have finally settled now (or so it seems *touch wood*)

After 2 years off contraception.

I'm 15 stone 2 size 18. Not sure where I put all the weight but it must go somewhere.

Anyway had my 1st baby April 2010 I was 12 stone 3 when I conceived he was a 9lb baby and I didn't breastfeed.

I ate and ate during pregnancy partially due to antenatal depression. Things would go wrong at work so i'd eat a box of chocs.:haha:

I used to be 15 9 a few years ago then lost 5 stone down to 10 and a half but I took it to the extreme and was barely eating enough to sustain the amount of exercise I was doing. It has scarred me a little and now slipped back into old ways.

So now my dilemma is that we desperately want another kid I was going to diet and try to lose 2 stone before trying again. But just found out i'm losing my job next April.

If I get pregnant asap I will still get some maternity pay (good package provided by employees) before redundancy, then I won't bother getting another job so i can be a stay at home Mum.

Do I just say sod it and go for it or should i lose the weight. Been suffering lower back pain since ds and waiting for physio referral, scared this will get worse when pregnant.

I know it's a long one but what do you think?

xxmoonriverxx -- I'd say go for it now but eat healthy and exercise whether you're pregnant or not. You can very safely loose a modest amount of weight during your first trimester (and even throughout your pregnancy) by doing things the healthy way.

It was very difficult for me to eat healthy & exercise during the first half of my pregnancy due to nausea & fatigue. For the last few weeks I've been feeling better and I've managed to only gain 0.4 pounds in over 3 weeks. I'm hoping I can hover at this weight for the next 2-3 months (losing my own fat while gaining baby weight). I'm eating a good 2000-2200calories/day (even more occasionally) but I'm a lot more active now than I have been since becoming pregnant (I was very active pre-pregnancy).
