Hi, I hope you 3rd triers don't mind me popping over from 2nd tri. I've already posted this on 2nd tri but despite 46 views I've only had one response. I thought some of you might have a better idea...
I had my 21 week scan on Monday and am suffering a bit of gender disappointment at the moment. I'm now really worried that I might not bond so well with my baby. To those of you who've had 4D scans, do you think having one might help me bond with my little boy?

Thanks

i think it might hun. my OH sure bonded better

dont take it too personally tho re: replies.

i was sort of the same. we found out we were having a girl after i had myself convinced it was a boy. but! after a few weeks of calling my bump her and talking to my baby girl as a she instead of it, i feel so much in love already.

i dont think its a bad thing we're going through i just think there is so much to take in and change isnt always gud.

go and buy something really nice for ur baby and u'll feel better. i got stuff outta asda which was expensive but was just something nice for our wee girl

I'm going for one on Sunday, much because my OH doesn't seem to have gotten used to the idea he's going to be a Dad regardless of the fact i'm nearly 30 weeks... thought it might help him bond a bit but I will let you know xx

Personally in my experience it did increase the bond i felt with my baby.

I think because i was able to see her features so clearly etc compared to my other scans it made her seem that much more real to me...she actually looked like a little person there....If that makes sense  and i find myself constantly looking a the pics now in amazement and watching the dvd too lol

I'm not suffered with gender disappointment so don't know if it will help in that respect though sorry :hugs: but overall i'd say it's worth it.

I think it helped me, seeing him as a little person and Oh enjoyed it

Just asked Oh and he said it helped him

We have just come back from our 4d scan and it was amazing!! I would totally recommend it!

Although i don't have any experience of gender dissapointment I thought I would let you know my thoughts anyway. Don't feel too bad about feeling dissapointed- many people have a preference about whether they would like a girl or a boy and i'm sure many people feel a little dissapointed when they find out the gender of their baby... some probably don't admit it though. It will probably just take a little time to get used to the idea. As for the 4d scan, it probably will help you bond. I certainly felt that it helped me and my husband bond with our little girl, watching her stretch and yawn etc. It certainly was an amazing experience. So I would say, go for it!- When you see his little face and hands and feet and see him move and change facial expressions, and the rest, you will just fall in love with him I'm sure! Good Luck! x

Susie, if you don't mind me asking when did you go for your scan?, as we have the same due date. Is everything easily visible etc as I'm paying quite a lot of money :)

It definitely helped us, our baby feels more like a little person now :)

I also admit i suffered gender dissappointment on my 20wks scan, i already have 3 boys and this being another boy after 17yr gap........... so yes i hold my hand up and was upset, but when for a 4D scan at 29wks and fell in love with my little fella it was amazing and worth every penny because i bonded straight away and the next day went and bought something blue which i couldnt do before then :happydance:

I had a 4d scan and loved every second. I don't know the gender of my baby as have opted to stay team yellow but we booked the 4d as I had a bit of a scare and had to go up the hospital to be monitored due to lack of movements. Everything was ok but me and husband booked it to cheer me up afterwards! They are expensive but so worth it and I now feel very close to my little one. I say go for it! You will love it xxx
