Hi ladies Alfie will be 5 weeks on Thursday and his latch is still not right, they have put it own to a bads fit and he needs to grow a little before the latch will be good. My nipples are so sore and i'm struggling to keep positive. Did anyone else have a bad fit if so how long did it take for your LO's mouth to grow big enough to sort out the latch?

I think this was one of the reasons why I struggled. The thing I found helped most was to sandwich my breast and help Kaya get enough of the breast rather than the nipple. It took me about 2 months for things to start getting better. Hang in there hun, it does get better.

Have they checked he's not tongue tied?

My baby rarely opens wide enough even now. Try 'sandwiching' as menioned above. Over time you kind develop your own latching strategy and now its not by the book, it aint pretty, but she's on! You both have to learn.

Yeah he's been checked for tongue tie. We've tried everything and seems his mouth is just not quite big enough yet  he's started gaining weight which is great but his feeds are taking over an hour cos he's not getting the milk as well as he would i guess???? just hope it sorts itself out soon

i do the sandwiching thing too, sometimes feeding faith is still painful and getting her on can be so tricky spesh if shes really hungry and impatient hang in there mummy its worth it in the end xx
