Hi everyone, I had a concern and was hoping if the moms in here could give me some insight. I found out I was pregnant 2 days before Christmas. I am one of the lucky ones who conceived right after getting off the bc pills. I went to something similar to planned parenthood to get the pregnancy test done. They did it twice and it was both positive but the line is faint. They said my hormone level is probably low but I am pregnant. They said I am around 4.5 weeks pregnant. I started having pelvic pain Christmas eve that felt like severe menstrual cramping on and off but lived through it until monday afternoon where I couldnt take it any longer. When I went to the urgent care they said I was running a fever and referred me to the ER. At the ER they performed several tests on me, incluing the blood test for the hcg level. I was taken in for an ultrasound but the tech couldnt find anything, afterwards she said "You tested positive for pregnany?" Back to my room, the doc said my hcg level is low its only 43. He asked me if my dates are correct, I said yes because I keep track of my menstrual dates. Now I am due for another hcg blood test tomorrow to see if the number doubles. Ladies, what do you think is possibly going on? Do you think I could've conceived later than expected. Based on what the ER doc said, I'm pretty confused now, I dont know how far along I am. Based on my LSM, I am 5 weeks pregnant by now, but why is my hcg level so low? I hope you can share your inputs. Thanks! Happy New Year!

Hey there!! I wouldn't be too concerned...they say it's not about the number just so long as it doubles! I would try to relax as much as possible until you get your numbers tomorrow!! Hang in there! I'm sure everything is just fine!! ;)

Fortunately, no bleeding. Not even the slightest bit, at least that's a little bit of relief.
Liveforhim- Thanks for your words of encouragement. Cant wait til tomorrow! I hope everything turns out fine.

My levels started out below 25, but they have been doubling fantastically and the last time I checked (which was a week before monday) they were way above 7000. Its how it doubles, not what the number is! But its normal to worry, ^_^

Like the others said, they can start pretty low, as long as they double every 48 hours you are doing good. My first blood test was only 21! But they have been doubling, so things are good so far:) Good luck, try not to worry too much, although I know that's hard.

sorry dont know anything about hcg levels but good lk for tomorrow xx

thanks everyone for your wonderful comments and encouragement. I will update as soon as I get the results!

You could have ovulated later, or implanted later etc. so just do repeat bloods hcg to check if its doubling. I had lots of cramps around the time mine was implanting and hcg for me was 14 at 10 days after ovulation and nurse said probably a chemical pregnancy, I said maybe it has only just implanted. Sure enough 2 days later it was 64 hcg, then on 2 days later my digi said 2 to 3 weeks pregnant which meant my hcg was at least 201!
I didnt ovulate till cd 21 so by lmp dates I should be a week ahead of what I actually am. Im thinking you ovulated late and what you felt was implanting and further embedding, and then a lower hcg because your not as far along as your lmp says.
Hope Im right for you, and they wouldnt see anything on the scan either really if just implanted!

Also coming straight off the bcp you may have ovulated later than you thought and got an early bfp...just something to consider i wouldn't necessarily say you were five weeks probably closer to 4. Good luck x

you may be slighty out on your dates as i was pretty certain when i ovulated but they put me a week forward at my scan, your first hcg doesnt really show much its the doubling they may of also caught it just about to double if that makes sense. good luck for 2moro and if you look online for hcg levels they vary so much, and no bleeding is good :D

I got my hgc levels tested last time and it was only a 36 18 months later I have a high energy level boy :)

Hi

Just to add to this - I recently found out I am pregnant and also went for HCG level testing and also was told that what is important, is the doubling rate and not the actual value.

But I have to add (and I heard this from my doctor as well as reading it online on numerous websites), it does not have to be an exact figure. Meaning, if your HCG does not double exactly, do not stress about it. Most important firstly, is that it is rising considerably.

Secondly, doctors would like to see a 66% increase (at least) every 48 hours, and doubling every 72 hours. Also, as HCG levels go higher, they double at a lower rate. If your HCG is rising and you have no bleeding, I think you can relax.

Praying all goes well for you.

Hi! :hi: didn't want to read and run. I'm also around 4-5 weeks pregnant. my first blood test was about the same as yours. mine was around 46. i'm also in the process of finding out how this goes for me... my next doctor's appt. and scan will be next year, first week of January. just letting you know your not alone. praying and keeping Fx'd for both of us! :hugs:

xx
