Took my little man for his 6 month shots this morning and he is doing good except that his head is off the charts now. He was 25th percentile for height and 35th for weight and off the charts for head. So the doctor is sending him for a CT scan of his brain. Didn't even give him the shots yet. Going to the hospital in a few hours for CT scan then back to the pediatrician for the results and to see about getting the shots.

He thinks he may have hydrocephalus. Said he isn't sitting up on his own yet bc his head is so much bigger than his body.

I can't stop crying. I know this probably isn't anything serious but I just can't imagine the thought of there being something wrong with my perfect little boy. After all he has already had to go through. Now this. More tests. I am so worried.

Just got back. He does have some extra fluid around the front of his brain but they do NOT think it's hydrocephalus. They think it will go away as he develops and that he just has a large head. Have to go back in 4 months for a follow up scan to re-check everything but our pediatrician seemed very reassuring and said we do not need to be worried.

Glad to hear everything was ok.

What a scary day it must have been.

Sorry you have to go through this. We went through the same with Harry and it turns out, he 2, just had a big head (more room for their big brains) xxx

That's what I said. He is just going to be extra smart, like his momma. :)

ooof how horrible for you! yep yep extra room for all that smarts

I went through a scare with my son too, of a different sort. He was diagnosed with a possible form of cerebral palsy, hemiparesis, paralysis on his right side . I cried for days and days because my son essentially had brain damage. We were on a waiting list for a specialized center for 7 months. When we finally met them, it had completely disapeared. In fact the specialist says stiffness in one side is not uncommon in preemies and usually disapears on its down! I wish the first doctor had mentionned that SMALL DETAIL! *insert sarcasm here*

Ah well glad to hear everything is fine :happydance:

Glad to hear it was better than you thought. It must have been scary. Hope next scan goes well.
