Is this something I need to be worried about? The ultrasound tech said everything looked wonderful but couldn't see a heartbeat since its measuring early.

Is this ok? Or should I be worried??

This is common if your original date is from LMP. LMP dating assumes we ovulate on CD 14. Your scan date is more accurate and pinpoints your ovulation around CD 20. Were you tracking your ovulation?

I'm interested in this answer too. I'm 8 weeks 4 days today based on LMP, but my midwife thinks the baby looks more like 5 to 6 weeks. I have an appointment to see the specialist for testing, but it is not until May 1st.

Hi hun, I mc'd on 6th feb and got a BFP 4 weeks after without AF inbetween. If you count my first day of bleeding as cd 1 it puts me at 8+2. So last week I went for a scan at 7+2 and it dated me at 5+5. I saw a HB but was/am still really worried that I measured over a week smaller but I think I just ovulated later due to mc..I think I ovulated on cd17/18 rather than cd12 like I usually do.. Hope I helped x

I wasn't tracking my ovulation. More or less it was a not trying preventing and whenever it was time.

I don't think you should worry, because transvaginal ultrasounds can only measure with +/- 1 week accuracy. (Transvaginal ultrasounds show more clearly than abdominal scans.)

Plus, as others have said, you may have ovulated later. Also, you may have implanted later.

Similar thing happened with me, so my doc brought me in for another u/s the following week. We saw the heartbeat then. Do you have another appt scheduled?

Could you have ovulated late? When did you get your bfp? That's terrible that you have to wait a month to get another check up.

I go next Wednesday for a follow up ultrasound which she told me I will for sure be able to see something then.

I was just really hoping I'd see something today, but let me down. Even though I'm super happy that she said everything looked wonderful and might of had my days wrong. I wish they would of moved me up a week instead of took one away!

Maybe they will next week! Seems to be a common enough occurrence - take one week back, then 2 weeks forward.

Is that the truth?? I sure hope so! So how far along am I supposed to tell people I am now?? What I thought was or what they read it as?

i had a scan at 5 weeks an 3 days and found out i was having twins but could only see 2 yolc sacs no fetal poles or heartbeats i too was worrying as i thourt i was 6 + weeks so i went back 2 weeks later and saw 2 babys with healthy heartbeats , id say theres nothink to worry about belive me i posted the exact same and realised how common it actually was as some say theyve seen heartbeats from 5 weeks this is what worried me more but most dont see a heartbeats til 6 n hlf weeks +

I'm not sure. Your LMP is still the date of your LMP?

I just think of myself as 8.5 -10 wks along and hope the next ultrasound yields a measurement closer to 10 than 8.5. And 9+ is probably where I really am, given all my signs point to late implantation.

Hi I had a similar situation and I was tracking ovulation.
my lmp was jan 15th, I know i ovulated on cd 20 meaning my edd was 6 days behind. I went far a scan at 6+1 (by ovulation) and they said i was 5-5.5 weeks, this wasnt possible as it would have meant i got a bfp at 5dpo so I panicked. i went for a vaginal scan at 6+6 and they saw the hb and told me I was 6+4 so I also implanted late. Basically putting me 8 days behind LMP EDD. but everything is fine its just that until baby is big enough to see its pretty much a guess how far you are. Hope this helps :)

just had this problem myself..had a 6 week ultrasound done due to a bit of bleeding/pain and theres a 6 week sac, but no yolk sac or fetal pole..but she said its still too early for any of that anyway....:| :( so......Im scared.

I had the yolk sac but that was it. She said next week we will for sure be able to see a baby in there. My fingers are crossed to see my little turkey in the oven!!

I had a strong BFP on Feb 29th. I'm hoping that it'll just be like everyone else has experienced and the baby will have caught up by the time I go to the specialist.
