Hi all, I had a vaginal scan this week at what we thought was 6wk+5. We saw an 8 cm gestational sac and possibly a yolk sac at 4.75 mm. This looks more like a 5wk+5 pregnancy. I'm hoping that my dates are off but my doctor seems to think that development has stopped and I will miscarry. Thoughts?

It's possible that I ovulated later than I thought and was only 6wk at the scan (which would be pretty consistent with what we saw) but in that case I would have gotten a positive hpt at 6 dpo. Is this possible? My hcg on scan day was 11,300 which is on the high side for 5-6 weeks.

Not sure if I should be optimistic or prepare for disappointment. Probably both!

I had a followup internal scan today 7 days after my first scan. I think I'm about 6.5-7 weeks pregnant but things look a litter earlier on developmentally. Today the yolk sac was more defined and there was a 4mm fetal pole (not seen last week) but still no heartbeat. Most concerning was the gestational sac only grew from 8mm to 10mm (it should grow 1mm per day). I think I'm about 7 weeks, the baby measures 6 weeks and the sac measures 5 weeks. Not bad news today but more like no news. I have to wait a week and look again. Not looking great but I can't give up hope. Any thoughts? Similar stories? Did the baby develop or did you have a miscarriage?

Just wanted to wish u good luck, i know what its like to have scan after scan, week after week and it is hard to keep waiting. I hope u have a positive outcome xxx

I'm updating in case anyone runs across this thread later. The 8 week scan showed no growth of the sac (10mm) and that the baby has shrunk by just a bit (4 to 3 mm). The Dr. said she could also see where the sac and such is starting to detach from the uterine wall. Definitely a miscarriage in progress. I'm sad that it didn't work out but mostly right now I feel relief that I have an answer and can move on.
best wishes to the rest of you!
