6 yr old son urinating a lot

Hi
Over the last few days my son has been at the toilet an awful lot. He's not drinking any more though. I've also noticed that he is smelling a bit of urine and I'm having to change him more often although I thought this was just because he was not wiping himself. I dont think his urine itself is smelly. Could this be an infection as I didnt think they were common in boys. I've now got myself worrying about diabetes as well.
Any advice appreciated.
