7 months sudden pain in nipple and breast?

I woke up this morning and my nipple is on fire, part of my breast is hurting as well. It hurts to nurse LO on that side. I checked his mouth for thrush and no signs. What could it be?

Thrush was my first thought. It may not have spread to him yet, or perhaps he just isn't showing symptoms. It could also be mastitis I would get it checked out. I hope it goes away quickly!
