Hello all, I'm Emma. I've had 2 succesful pregnancies and 2 not succesful. I had a scan on the 19th December, they said I'm 6 weeks. I'm arguing that, because that would mean I got my positive before I'd missed an AF, I didn't take a test until I was 4 days past. Ah well. So accorcding to their dates, I'm between 8 and 9 weeks. I'm seeing my midwife today for the first appointment. It's going to be wierd...my midwife is male. Nothing against him, it's just I'm calling a guy 'wife'. lol. Anyway..this one seems to want to stick around, I've already made it past my own personal bad time. I'm having cravings for Chicken curry and the smell of chocolate is disgusting (I'm normally a chocoholic).
I know I'm very lucky. I have PCOS and it only took us 4 months of TTC, I can honestly say, I was not expecting that ! Now it's just to get past the next 4 weeks and hopefully be in the safe zone.
I've had lots of trouble in previous pregnancies. With my son, I didn't stop bleeding and had gestational diabetes, when we went into labour, we both nearly died, I had a placental abruption, at term. With my daughter, She was a breeze compared. Didn't know I was pregnant till 4 months, Only had thrush the entire time, easily coped with. And labour was gas and air.

Other than that, I'm optimistic !! And SOOOO excited.

Good Luck to all ! ! ! And I hope to make some friends here :D

Hey Emma,
I'm also new on here, kind of addicted already!
I was reading ur post and noticed that you have PCOS. I also have that devil condition and wondered the extent of ur PCOS. I'm pretty sure I have the extreme of every symptom of it! I was also impressed at how it only took you 4 months to concieve!!

Congrats also!!!

I'm not sure what symtoms I have of PCOS as I also have a brain condition that masks them. I know I've got the weight issue, and too much of one hormone ( I really can't remember). When I got the diagnosis my DR was sat there discussing her wedding with her nurse. She said " You have PCOS, lose weight - oh, and my dress hasn't come back yet" So as you can tell, she didn't really care too much ! I did a little research when we decided to try for another, because it had been 3 years and thought i might have got worse. I know I've never had regualr cycles. They're either non existent or lasting about 30 days, and so heavy it's scary. I had a merina coil fitted after my daughter, although painful to fit, the best thing I've ever done !

I have the weight problem also, gah, it annoys me soo much, can't seem to shed more then 8 or 9lbs then it just freezes.
I know what it's like when the gp just brushes it off. I had that problem at 3 different doctors and 2 hospitals. not fair at all!
My cycles are non existent to overactive, 45days one month then 2weeks then next. It's a nightmare, I'm just hoping that this year is my year!! =]

I hope so for you too ! ! ! I know what it feels like. I started dreading each month. Good Luck ! ! I don't think the unstable cycles help much though. Is there nothing the GP can do? It was suggested to me, when we wanted to conceive my eldest that they put me on the pill to regulate my cycles. I was on that for 2 months, they took me off and I conceived straight away. Apparently that's normal. ?

Just a thought hun

I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was 14 (meh) and was put on he pill. This worked at regulating cycles for about 3 years, then it just stopped working. I went back to the GP and was sent to the hospital to see a 'specialist' (ha, yeah right) This is when I was taken off the pill and told to go back in 6 months, at the next appointment I was put on a drug called metformin, I dunno if u've heard of it, it's given to diabetic people to regulate blood sugar levels. That kinda worked, but it has a side effect widely known as 'met bum' (gives you the squits). But i've been taking it on and off, cuz i'm exceptionally forgetful when it comes to taking tablets!!
I'm currently back on it and hoping for results!!

I'm hoping this time we can do it and then have a babeh at the end of it, cuz i think i'm as ready as i'll ever be, although ever so immature (i find farting hilarious!) and my partner is 40 now and lets face it, he aint getting any younger.

:dust:

Yeah I know metformin, both my parents are diabetic. woohoo me.... Good luck with it. I really do hope it works. xxx
