I am exactly 5+1 today, confirmed by my O symptoms, betas, and by a gestational sac size that measures absolutely spot on for 5+1. My OB didn't remark on this during my u/s today, but I noticed that there was no yolk sac visible in the gestational sac when he brought it up on the screen. Everything I've read online says that by the time the sac is 8mm, a yolk sac should be visible on transvaginal ultrasound (the u/s today was transvaginal).

I was wondering if anyone has any personal experience with this situation, or has read anything different from what I've read? Is it possible to have an 8mm sac and no yolk, but to go on with a healthy pregnancy?

i had an u/s at 5+2 and all my dr saw at the time was the gest. sac and the beginning of the yolk sac but that was all it was just a small dot that they pointed out to me i think that it was measuring 11mm my dr told me that it was perfect for my dates, at 6+2 i had a little brown spotting and went in for an u/s and there was a baby, heartbeat and a very round yolk sac great for my dates i had a reassurance scan yest and the heart beat is strong my baby is growind and all seems to be going great,

i think that what you saw is perfect for being 5+1 am sure that your dr would have said something other wise congrats on your pregnancy are they going to do an other u/s oh and try (and i know its easier said than done am guilty too) but try not to google he is evil and will make you worry good luck and congrats

I had a 12mm gestational sac with no fetal pole or yolk, at 5+4, but as you can see from my picture, baby was there with a heartbeat a few weeks later. :hugs:

Lucy: I know I should stay off Google, haha. :)

Jesssika: thank you, that is exactly what I was hoping to hear!

I have no doubt in my mind that it's perfectly normal and you'll end up with a healthy little baby in your arms later :hugs:

thast fien hun i was 5+1 and my sac measured 10.6 mm and wejust saw teh beggininngs of pole with hearbeat and yolk...so at 8mm ur just a couple of days out and alot can change in a couple of days!

I had a scan at 5+1 and there was only a gestational sac, I was rescanned at 6+2 and saw the heartbeat! Dnt worry it's just too early x

I had an internal scan at 5+3 and saw nothing, just a sac. No yolk sac or fetal pole and I was devastated. I went back at 6+6 and there was my teeny blob or a baby with a heartbeat, although there wasn't much to see to be totally honest. I went back again at 8+6, my dates were changed to 9+0 or 9+1, and there was a baby with heartbeat (my pic). Don't give up hope, 5 weeks is really too early to see anything. Good luck!!

Update: Today had an ultrasound at 7+1 and little bean was there with a beautiful heartbeat of 160 bpm!

So glad ive found this ive got exactly the same thing happening to me, ive got a scan tomorrow :) x
