Wow!! So this IS common? Wonder why no one mentions it? How amazing!

How will my baby learn to walk?
Newborn to two months
"From birth, your baby has the reflex to brace his legs against a surface he feels under his feet. If you hold your newborn upright on your lap, supporting his head, you'll feel him trying to use his legs. He's not trying to walk, it's just his instincts kicking in. His legs aren't nearly strong enough for him to even stand. This reflex will disappear after a couple of months"

So its a reflex all babies have, but 'some' babies are strong enough to weight bare very early on.

Oscar has been doing this since about 6 weeks with us holding him and can now stand just holding on to our hands...he also sat up unaided today. I think every child is different but in no way does it mean that a child is highly advanced because, like a previous poster said, her baby was doing this early too and still is walking at 12mnths. Just that every child is different I guess.
