Well i have now got my second cold sore coming in the space of a week.

I have not had one in years and years and OH has never had one either! What is going on. Its right in the corner of both side of my mouth. I look like a gone wrong version of the Joker! :haha:

Do you think this could be a sign of pregnancy? I have heard of weirder signs. Just looking for some opinions.

thanks ladies.

Well girls looks like it was a sign as i got my :bfp: this morning.
2 tests both very faint BFPs. IC 10miu was so faint i could hardly see it and 2 hours later done another IC 20miu and the line was still faint but darker. :happydance:

I just did a bit of googling and most say no its not a sign of pregnancy, then I found this article on the cold sore virus so have copied and paste the bit underneath-

Menstruation/hormonal changes as in pregnancy. Many women find that their outbreaks are confined to the period leading up to menstruation and some pregnant women may notice an outbreak of cold sores, particularly in early pregnancy when oestrogen and progesterone levels start to rise rapidly.

Its funny you should say this though because I have a very sore patch on the corner of my mouth, its not a cold sore as such just a patch of red, sore dry skin, and I never have stuff like that! its probably all the talking ive been doing lately tho lol

xx

I think it could Laura. I only ever get coldsores when I'm run down (immune system's low) suppose it's the same as getting a cold. Don't wanna get ur hopes up but I'd say it's lookin good.
Are you having any other symptoms? I'm 6-7 dpo and I've been having lower tummy cramps, creamy cm, very very tired, bbs r sensitive and extremely emotional. Like I cried cos my asda delivery was an hr early!! I'm trying not to get my hopes up but it's so hard!!

thanks hunny. I have read that getting them in pregnancy when you have never had them can actually kill the baby or cause serious damage as the anti virus is not in your blood to pass onto the baby to fight it off. Quite scarey really.

Oh i hope its a sign. i really do. talking too much :haha: thats whats prob caused mine come to think of it:haha:

Embo you have just described me to a T i have

Sore boobs (normal for me though)
Tired (been in bed by 8 when im not working)
Backache
head aches
irritable (very very irritable)
And emotional
Oh and the CM is getting very creamy and there si lots of it.

Of and i had thrush last week. Not sure if thats one or not. ha ha

i tend to get coldsores when run down and stressed out.
dont think its a sign of pregnancy though
good luck..x

I thought mine was thrush but it didn't smell erm yeasty !!! (tmi)

here's hoping we get our BFP's this month laura.

Hey Laura,

Sounding good hun, Your chart is looking good too, hope you get high temps next few days too.......... keep me informed, fingers and everything else crossed for you xxx

Well I've been testing since 5 dpo!! What a laugh!! I haven't been disappointed with BFN's. Just laughing at myself!!
Is itchiness a sign?? I've been itching like crazy tonight. Oh and terrible gassiness?
So many symptoms!!! And I swore I wouldn't do this!!!

I worked out after getting recurrent (sp!!!) cold sores that citrus fruits can bring them, oranges are the worse culprit for me, I know avoid them like the plague, but its a lot you dont realise, hate cold sores, sore nasty.

Hey laura hunny how you doing? I was asking Karen how you were. Thanks chick, getting nerve wracking now though. lol. Ill keep you posted.

xxx

Em im the same hunny but im not as bad as most month to be honest.

One thing is my moods though. Im soooo irritable and irrational. Im actuall doing my own head in with it lol. and tired as well but that could be due to me working stupid shifts this week. :(

I have had cold sores my whole life:( although I get them less and less as I get older.) I only get about one maybe two a year now. I actually have one right now Lol !! I know for me I am most likely to get one when I(immune system) am run down. For example I have a terrible cold right now, I think that's why I got this one. So my answer to your question is most definitely YES!!! I have always said I bet I'll get lots of cold sores when I become preggo because my body will be working overtime!! My cousin who gets them regularly got tons when she was preggo!!! I hope its a sign for you! Good luck!!

I also get cold sores. And I am one of those unlucky people who gets the huge nasty ones. The kind that give you the shivers to look at. WOOHOO me!!

I strongly suggest ABREVA!! I am skeptical and have tried everything, but Abreva really really works. It's $20 though. THe only thing is that you have to use it as soon as you feel the cold sore coming or it's too late.

Buy Abreva!! (and no they are not paying me to say that!)

Blech. I hate them.
I used to get them frequently from age 16 (when i assume I was exposed to the virus that causes them) to about age 22.
I swear i had one about every 3 or 4 months, and I'd be embarrassed to leave the house for a week until it went away.
Then my cold sores stopped- just stopped completely, for over ten years.
I pretty much forgot I'd ever had them.
Then, two years ago, right after I remarried, on the night before my wedding party... I got a cold sore.
It was just like the old days, except that I couldn't hide, because the party was already all planned, and I had to attend it, since I was the guest of honor.
The other thing that changed was that I found I didn't care that much anymore. It's just a cold sore. It's not as big a deal as I once thought.

I haven't gotten another one since then; I can only assume it was caused by stress (albeit happy stress, not bad stress).

But I am living proof that it is very possible for cold sores to go away for a very long time.
I guess the virus just goes dormant or something.
