Absolutely gutted... Postcode lottery at it's best!

I didn't know there was a free program in the UK. That's pretty cool. Hope it works out for you! We pay 100% for infertility in US. Most insurance companies don't cover it. I don't know anyone personally that has any sort of infertility coverage. And it's expensive! My brother did it for his first, paid $15000 total. Now for his 2nd,3rd,and 4th (triplets!) he has paid over $20000.
With a short lp, anything less than 10, is for sure a short lp, don't see why that wouldn't be looked into further. Not to say you can't get pregnant with a short lp, it just may be more difficult. I'm trying to lengthen my lp too at the moment. I've read that b6, vitex, and progesterone cream can all help. Not sure if you shoul take them all at once, but maybe someone else would be more knowledgeable about it than me. I'm trying the b6 to start ad will be addi progesterone cream if I don't see a longer lp. Good luck to you!

In the UK we have the National Health Service (NHS) were part of our taxes goes into it so we can access 'free' health care. We still pay for medications on prescription it's around £7.50 now per item, but we don't pay for any operations or testing.

The fertility situation only allows UP TO 3 IVF or IUI treatments before we have to start paying, but this varies from county to county... where i live it's 1 free attempt - as long as you have no living children from either partner, which is why i can't access that anymore.

But things are looking up, i've called the FS and they will take a referral where i can have further testing and actually get the proper advice as when i mentioned my short LP they didn't dismiss it like my DR did!

xx

So glad they didn't dismiss it! why would it matter if oh has kids? They are not your kids together so I don't see how it has relavence? Also, it could be that he was fertile before, but things can change with age. Prior kids doesn't necessarily mean his body is working the same as it was then. Me and dh have one son together, conceived easily, but are having the hardest time conceiving now. We know there is something wrong, just don't know what, my hormones are the biggest suspicion here, but of course the dr won't help me yet. :(
I hope you get that referral soon.

We're waiting on his SA to be done (should be here any day) just to check, FX they will come back ok!

It shouldn't matter about having kids from a previous relationship... but unfortunately it does :growlmad: IF i have to go down the IVF route i will appeal against it and already have the complaints department details stored for any future fight i might have to face lol

Hopin you never have to do the IVF. FX they get your lp lengthened and that fixes the problem

I do hope you get it sorted, because they should have done a HSG and lap to be thorough.

Endo is uterine growth that grows any where else but your uterus. Generally on your fallopian tubes, uterus, and ovaries. Adhesions can also be found in your rectal area and lower abdomen. My lining of my uterus was normal, but they found endo with me.

Thanks, Armywife, for posting a link to this website. It has some great info on there that I found very interesting.

Thanks for posting that link, very helpful!! My periods have been heavy and painful from day one... maybe more to it... good news is i will now be able to find out!!

My Dr rang me back and said she had been doing some digging around trying to find a way to help... and i told her so had I lol !! Gave her the number for the FS that said they would accept me, then she tells me that she was going through my history and realised i've never had my tubes checked and is going to refer me to my original gynaecologist from 10 years ago :) So we're back on track :)

So hopefully now i will have a HSG done, proper ENDO exam and hopefully the right medication to help my LP!!

xx

Fantastic news!!

Glad someone is sitting up and taking notice!!

I can't thank you enough for that info you emailed me! It's always so much better when you can quote their own guidelines at them, they can't argue back lol

My Dr still made it sound like she was doing me a favour! But i don't care as long as she does what she says she's going to do!

xx

aww honey :( its a load of crap isnt it. i really feel for you, although me and my dh are the other way round. I've got a child from a previous relationship but weve had to pay for ivf because he has male factor and the nhs wouldnt help at all. It's horrible and expensive. i wish you all the best though xxx

It's awful that we have to pay for it just because one of the couple has previous children, but the worst bit for me was being told i couldn't access NHS medication like clomid, prgesterone... which turns out she was WRONG anyway and my referral has now gone in back to my original gynae!

I'm 34, never been pregnant, ever, and when she told me that the bottom fell out of my world for a second time. But thanks to great people on here i've dug deeper and won... well the first hurdle anyway! lol

I had to chuckle to myself today, i'm using OPKs (non digital) for the first time and when i looked i said to myself... 'SO that's what 2 lines look like on a pee stick!' lol

xx
