Absolutely gutted!

So sorry you are having this worry. I'm not immune to chicken pox (never had it as a kid and requested to be tested) and I was told I wouldn't get a jab unless I had a known exposure. I wonder why they don't like giving the jab unless as a last resort?

There was an out break in my dd2 school. So I told mw as the nursery warned me. The bloods came back I wasn't immune & I had chicken pox in my blood. So I had come into contact with it at that point. But because our hospital doesn't do the test themselves it had to be sent off 250 miles away!! Took 2 weeks to come back. Well over the 72hrs that the jab is meant to be given. Because I had, had chicken pox before & shingles they said you will definitely be covered. Well I wasn't! I had chicken pox & no spots! Doctor said because I had it before that could be why I had no spots. Just felt like I had the flu...

Hey gemstone.. so sorry for the scenario... Big hugs and prayers that Monday starts to bring you some answers.

I too do not have the immunity to chicken pox, I've had the vaccine and the booster and they didn't "take" so to speak. The "jab" that your talking about is a blood product, more like a transfusion than a needle, so there are risks associated with getting a blood product. Having said that they should have the resources available to get the test results within the 72 hour time frame!! I have a friend who is a family doctor and isn't immune, and she was exposed because she hadn't told her staff she was pregnant yet and they brought in one of her patients with chicken pox. She did get the "jab" but I remember her saying during her next pregnancy that she wouldn't get it, that the risk of there being an issue with the baby were lower than the risks associated with the jab... tough decision!!

All of that to say hopefully they are just being super cautious!!!

I will be stalking to see how you and your dd make out.

Good luck.

Kim

Maybe (hopefully) there is some confusion with whoever looked at the result, because a variant of chickenpox will show as 'detected/positive' on a blood test if you have had it before - and is therefore saying you're immune to chickenpox, not that you have it: in the same way that the booking Rubella immunity blood test shows as ''rubella detected" if you are immune, because it's detecting a previous infection or vaccination.

Someone MAY have seen the words 'Detected' or 'positive' on your blood result at the time, and thought 'OMG she has chickenpox!' - but it actually meant it's been detected in your system historically, and therefore now as immunity - the same as a Rubella result would say.

It would be a good idea to find out if it was the IgG part of the blood test that was positive, or the IgM part (both would have been done).
BOTH of those would need to be positive to mean you've had a recent infection. If it was just the IgG part that showed positive, that shows a historical infection or vaccination... But like I said, someone may have seen the word 'positive' on the first one, and got the wrong end of the stick? It happens a lot when two different people look at two different results and just take it on its own without actually comparing them.

Ask if you can get a copy of the first blood test, or both the blood tests if you can (your GP surgery may print one off for you or your midwife may be able to get hold of it?) :)

It's a jab it's called immunoglobulin (v-zig) and it has to be given in 72hrs. It's just to boost the immune system. It's not a blood transfusion. And I'm not confused about either of them. There is a big chance my daughter has cerebral palsy. Coz of this.

Nope I'm immune to measles, mumps and rubella. All was fine. It was chicken pox. I had the microbiologist on the phone panicking they called every week to make I had definitely had chicke. Pox. Which I had and I have th scars to prove it.. My mother is quiet high up on the medical board. It's being dealt with

So sorry you are going through this hun. I hope your LO is okay :hugs:

gemstone, I wasn't implying at all that you were confused.. I'm sorry if you took that from what I said. I know what you're talking about I went through the whole thing because I don't have immunity and my ds's daycare had an outbreak. I was lucky that I knew I wasn't immune.. It's crazy to me that for something as important as needing the jab within 72 hours and not being able to do the blood test sooner... crazy!!!!

I used the words "like a transfusion" because I couldn't think of the right word... but it is a blood product...

Regardless what happened to you and now your dd was wrong, and I'm soo praying that your little girl is okay. I say document the heck out of everything (which it sounds like you're doing) and take the legal route... it's your right!

Sorry Hun. It's not your fault. I never meant to snap. Just all over the place atm 😢. It's just so hard to holds perfect precious baby in my arms and see this amazing beautiful little girl. And to think someone could have caused her harm. For the sake of a jab 😞. I just 🙏🏻 Monday goes better. Even tho I'm bracing myself for bad news. She will still be my perfect little angel regardless of the out come. She is truly a miracle and defeated the odds and deserves to be here. I wish I could just wrap her up and pop her back inside to keep her safe from harm. And protect her forever. Feel like I have failed. I just can't bare to put her down. I lose myself holding her and gazing her. Telling myself God has a bigger plan for her. Just hard to see right now. But he only sends us what we can handle..

There is no need to appologize at all, I feel terrible that my comments may have upset you even a little bit!! Like you have said she is perfect! and if there are some medical issues then that's just part of who she is :) you sound sooo strong and she is one lucky little girl to have a mommy like you!

How are you Gemstone? I had no idea that exposure to chickenpox may cause cerebral palsy!
Whatever happens your little girl is already a miracle and im sure will have amazing support from her amazing family. I really hope that this turns out to be something reversible for you but if its not then you can all access support asap.
Xx

Neither did I 😢. I'm not good. Very up & down. In fact all over the place. When she is asleep I just fall to pieces 😢😢. At times I feel like I can't breathe. But I will be there for her every step of the way. Hope you're well too xx

It's frightening to think. Lots of us think we are covered just because we have had the disease before. How wrong we can be..

Bump is. Tbh I don't even know pregnant 😂. Myself & my dh asked if it looked like cp. she wouldn't give us any answers. She said I would have to to wait for the tests. But she said I need to speak to someone with authority about what has happened. I think I the wink wink kind of way she was telling me to get a solicitor. Glad you're ok. Has the bleeding stopped x
