I wondered if anyone had done accupuncture whilst on clomid and what their experiences were with it all? I'm on my 3rd round of clomid now (I do already ovulate but to increase my progesterone) and seriously thinking about starting accupuncture.

Thank in advance to anyone who has any input. xxx

I can't comment on clomid but i can on Acupuncture and i would say go for it because it's the best thing i've done since ttc. I am however taking soy whilst having it done this cycle so i will let you know how i get on. I believe with clomid you can be dry so i would suggest doing acupuncture for EWCM, i had 12 days of it last cycle with a BFP but ended in chemical. I am now getting referred for tests but will continue with the acupuncture. GL x

Hi Ebony! I'm about to start my 4th round clomid, and last cycle I used acupuncture too. Don't know if it was coincidence or not but that was the first month I ovulated.

I was, and sometimes still am, sceptical about it all. But I do find it really relaxing, and that in itself must do some good. I was going every week but at £40 a session we decided to cut it to every 2 weeks. I'm due to go again tonight, had thought about cancelling it, but I know if I didn't ov this month I'd regret not going.

I looked on the British association of acupuncturists...or similar...website to find a practitioner. Some are also Zita West accredited, so the focus is on fertility.

If you can afford it I would say to go for it...I don't see it can do any harm, and I loved that it makes me feel I'm doing something to help myself.

Good luck xx

Thans for your responses ladies. I'm going to give it some serious thought and talk to my DH about it. Its does sound like its worth a shot though. xxx

I do acu, I'm not on Clomid but Femara. I'm really loving it. I used to get a sore back all the time, after I started acu it stopped pretty much straight away. My bloods have been better as have my moods and period flow

I got preg after two yrs of ttc with the help of tamoxifen and acupuncture - would highly recommend it x

i was just starting 3rd round of clomid when i started accupuncture. I can ovulate on my own as we already have a DS but i had come off bcp and after 6 months had only had 1 period so was put on clomid to kickstart everything. first two months i ovulated but no bfp, 3rd month i also took soy and started the accupuncture, only actually had 2 treatments before getting my bfp and it was twins! sadly i have just had a missed miscarriage but they think it was down to the fact that they were identical and therefore miscarriage and other problems are more likely. am still so sad but just had more accupuncture to try to get things going again.
Also with the accu i ovulated 4 days earlier than normal, felt soooo much calmer and more relaxed and i'm sure that all helped everything. it truly is amazing, my DH is v sceptical but i totally believe it works. oh i also used vitamin b complex (50mg of each) the successful month. Good luck and if you can afford it it's deff worth a try. xx baby dust to you. x

Oooh I really want to try this! I found a woman who does it and she specialist in fertility issues..

Question ladies- how often did you go and how much a session?

I also think acupuncture is one of the best choices I've made. I go 2x a week but my acupuncturist said once a week is fine (my insurance covers it here in the states). It helped to to relax and decompress. It made my periods (tmi alert) less clumpy and more bright red...healthier looking. and the fourth cycle after starting i actually ovulated on time for the first time in a long time. I'm still ovulating earlier then I used to (used to be cd 17-20), but now I'm on clomid, so that could be affecting it now. But I still think it's great. I would just try to find one that is more specialized with fertility/infertility.

I'm not on Clomid (yet?) but have been having acupuncture for about 12 weeks now.

I've had mental health issues for over 16 years and the main reason I went for acu was to relax a bit and get more in control of my mental state (problem for the last 18 months or so has been severe anxiety). My acupuncturist knows all about our LTTTCAL situation though, so he focuses on that as well. He prioritises mental health or fertility dependant on how I'm feeling at the time of the session and where in my cycle I am. On Monday he focused on my womb but also my lungs as I had quite a bad cold. It's really flexible.

I initially started going every week and did weekly sessions for 10 weeks. Now I'm down to fortnightly sessions. Eventually I'll probably go down to monthly sessions, or sessions specifically when I'm having a hard time or when it's a good time in my cycle.

It's not covered by the NHS so I pay for it out of my own pocket. I've been paying £36/session although he's raising his prices to £40/session as of Jan 1st. It's expensive but I think it's been worth it.
