Okay so I don't have much of the necessary baby stuff yet. We intentionally pushed it off to about now.
First thing I want to get is a car seat since I KNOW I need one. Contemplating renting vs buying an infant capsule.
I can rent the capsule and base for 180 for six months new or buy it for 450. Or I could go up to a seat that will do him for longer with an infant insert (but that doesn't pop out like a capsule) and they are about 500 to 600.
I am told that a benefit of the infant capsule is that you can take it out if they are sleeping and they stay asleep in it but I have also been told never to leave baby in one for more than 2hours at a stretch because it's too long for them to be in that position. I would be able to also either attach the capsule to a travel system base or to a base made for it that I could also rent for not much more for the 6 months. But then I'm seeing that prams for newborns should really be the lie flat type with the bassinet in them and it's better not to leave them semi sitting.
I do plan and hope to baby wear as much as possible and am thinking of getting either a woven or some sort of stretchy wrap and an ergo or something like a manduca or mei tai carrier so really I think now that I'll be likely to take baby out of capsule for things like supermarket trips and walks until he gets heavier when something like a push chair might be wanted. So maybe I don't need an infant friendly pram or a capsule at all... BUT am I fooling myself. I mean will I want the convenience of the capsule and a stroller type set up?
Ahhhhhhh so much to decide about
