Acne at 40

I'm nearly 40 and have acne.i was on dianne ed pill my since I was 20 leading up until i went off it to get pregnant at 38.During my pregnancy last year my face was clear now after three AF's my face is covered in acne.

My doctor said I can;t go back on dianne ed as it sthe worst of all the contraceptive pills and i'm too old to be on it

HELP I look like a spotty teenager and I'm embaressed.

my skin is incredibly oily.Anybody else have any suggestions on what to do

You have my sympathy! I've had brilliant skin all my life until early last year at 38. My skin hasn't been right since and is so scarred and pitted now. It's ruined and very depressing.

My skin was fantastic through my pregnancy with LO and whilst bf for 6 months (LO is 2 next month). But I then only had one AF before accidentally falling pregnant again when she was only 7 months old. I ended up losing the baby in a MMC but it seemed to be that pregnancy that triggered my acne. When I miscarried I hoped my skin would clear but it didn't. I first tried a course of antibiotic serum for 6 weeks. This worked but the acne returned pretty quick when I stopped it. So I then had 12 weeks of antibiotics. This cleared it and I finished the tablets late October. My skin still isn't right though but isn't acne anymore. But I always have at least one spot on my face and they often last ages. I may return to the GP at some point but I hate taking antibiotics. Just don't think they do you any good.

Can you see a dermatologist? Without knowing the underlying cause- it's hard to suggest much. Personally my skin is dry and I developed ezcema later in life- so I go to bed looking like an oil slick! lol. Not much help there

When I was younger proactive worked great!
