I'm popping over from 3rd Trim ;)!

just want to ask a holiday/trip related question.. I've always want to go travelling before settling down with children but since getting with my OH 3 years ago nearly priorities and ambitions change and I don't regret at all in anyway becoming pregnant so 'young' I'm 21.

I always wanted to go skiing, travel a little e.g. Australia etc like any young persons dream and due to lack of funds to do or go places like that me and OH decided to settle down and get our own house then though we'd NTNP and now we're due in December.

Just wondering if any of you ladies have been to 'adventurous' holidays/breaks e.g. Poland, Norway, skiing, longer flights to Africa etc with children in toe.

My parents have only just started doing what they want to do due to them being in a great place money wise also they don't have me at home. I'm happy to wait till my peanut has flown the nest and go on cruises and adventures like they do but I just want to know if it's possible to do and go on holidays with young ones?

If so where have you been and what age was your LO's?

DH and I love skiing so will def take the kids. Our friends took their lo at 6 months and enjoyed it, they took along the grandparents for help with babysitting. We would probably have gone with them (DD1 was 15 months but I was pregnant with DD2). I reckon we might go year after next when Sally will be weaned and Helen is old enough for ski school.

We went to Sweden in June and although I wouldn't call it an adventure holiday we did a lot and saw a fair bit of the country. I think most holidays are possible with lo's but they take a bit more planning and cost a bit more:flower:

i would say most holidays are doable with a lo in tow, apart from the safari as i don't think they allow children under 8! when dds were 4 and 5 i took them to corfu just the 3 of us and we travelled over to albania for the day. they went to thailand with their dad when they were 7 and 8 and they were on the beach, snorkelling, went elephant treking in the jungle and witnessed first hand the rioting from their hotel balcony...! last year i took them to florida and they went swimming with dolphins... i know they are a bit older now but i will still be doing similar holidays now ds is here as well. when they are young they are more adaptable and less likely to moan and complain they are bored...!

I took my little one home to new Zealand at 2 months old by myself, whilst it wasn't an adventure holiday I stated with my Mum while there we managed the flight just fine, I also took her to NZ at 10 months when my mum was diagnosed with cancer and again I did it on my own and the flights were fine! Imbue my 2 nd baby in a month and will be taking this one back to NZ at some point early next year and my daughter but hubby will be coming along this time!
We also plan on going skiing with them next year as well but with a group of friends who have kids too so it will prob be an adventure holiday for Daddy and I will hang out with the kids! If it's something you want to do just do it! I would suggest doing loads of research on where you want to go to see how child friendly it is but there is no reason you can't travel with kids!
