Me and my OH have our follow up appointment with the FS next month.
We know that we will have to have ISCI, which I was hoping we would start before the end of the year. I think its very unlikely but my OH and I have discussed if we could start it this year, should we wait until the new year?
I would like to start it asap but thinking about it I dont want to put my self under anymore stress with it being Christtmas and New year. Ive heard the injections can make you feel all over the place and I would have to cut out the drinking over the xmas parties etc.
What do you think? Is it best to start next year?
xx :hugs:

I guess its up to you where your priorities lie. For me since ttc I am happy to giving up drinking if it gets me closer to having a baby. I would much rather be undertaking treatment than drinking, but its up to you to asssess your lifestyle priorities. Good luck with the treatment whatever you decide. XXX

I personally would do it as soon as I could, but it depends on what you want most. I gave up alcohol while TTC anyways so that isn't a problem for me. Good luck whenever you start it.

I'm having some of the same questions about starting IVF. I will be away visiting DH's family during the holidays and wasn't sure I wanted to go having just finished treatment, maybe still doing progesterone, etc. I've gone back and forth though because I do want to start as soon as possible. My friend who had a successful ICSI this year recommended waiting because she felt it's important to be relaxed and to be in the right state of mind.
When would you start it if you were going to do it before the holidays?

Thats exactley how I feel, I need to be stress free and relaxed. We are self funding so only get one shot at this and I just want to get it right!
Dont get me wrong, id quit the wine and nights out (which dont happen very often!) if we were to go ahead with the treatment, but when its Christmas we have all the family get togethers and work dos ect and it can be very hectic. I dont get time off at work over the xmas period either. I just dont know what to do for the best! I really want to get started as soon as possible , but I want to give myself the best possible chance of it working.

Hey Obe,

I think IVF is such a rollercoaster ride with so many things involved, you should do what makes you happy. Yes we all want to get the end result but nobody can imagine what it is like to go through the stress of IVF unless they have been there.

I think it's really important for you to get your head in the right space and for you and DH to sit down and figure out when is the right time to start.

If you have lots of wonderful happy things to look forward to in the next two months that can put a smile on your face then perhaps start the new year with a fresh page? Yes your IVF cycle now could result in a :bfp: before crimbo BUT realistically it could also be a negative - if you think that would totally ruin Christmas and everything else you have planned then maybe January is a good starting point.

We are also doing it in the new year - at the end of the day you do what is right. No two people are the same xxx

Thanks Rachelle, I hadnt thought about it like that! Well Im going to see what the FS says when we go back and see what she thinks. We havnt done it before so it is all new to us, its the unknown so of course its going to be abit scary and nerve racking.
Good luck and I hope you get that BFP soon xx
