All these riots everywhere!!!

I don't think it's right for the police to use any tactics they fancy regardless. You can't see (or them know) what every individual has been up to and no matter what they've done it isn't right for them to be subject to gratuitous violence. We don't live in a society that endorses eye for an eye tactics. Force used should be the minimum necessary to obtain an arrest regardless of the crime. You want to see police officers kicking the living daylights out of 10 year olds for example?

As for the parenting question, I don't see the need to adopt a different technique in light of the riots. I'm satisfied with how I parent regardless. If any if my children get out if hand then I'll react accordingly depending on the situation. These people aren't the majority.

Definitely not. It's not something I want to see. But if they think they're big enough to go out and destroy peoples homes and businesses then they're 'big' enough to suffer the consequences. Thats why its gone on so long, they know the police can't do anything. Good on them putting their foot down I say.

But they want to be the big men looting and setting fire to things etc....they know right from wrong...x

Because their out doing it not their parents :dohh:

Seriously? You really think 10 year olds should be held criminally accountable? Not old enough to have sex or earn money or be responsible for decisions about their education etc but their own fault if they're engaged in criminal activity and deserving of a beating with a batton? The police are not judge and jury, their job is remove offenders so that others can decide of their culpability and punishment.

Absolutely its their own fault. I have no sympathy for them, they're criminals 10 years of age or not. If we don't prosecute then it would continue even further because they know they can't be prosecuted. Bearing in mind these 10 year olds aren't normal kids, they're animals.

I am disgusted by this attitude.

It's not an attitude, we're not condoning ANYBODY being hit (well I certainly am not) but if they are going to smash my town up I am not going to say "oh it's ok their only 10, they can't have sex/get a job/be responsible for their schooling so it's ok."

If they are throwing rocks, burning buildings down, being violent. Are the police meant to stand there and watch them risk people lives?

They need to be stopped if they are threating life with their actions. If someone was killed due to a 10 year old starting a fire what would we say to the realtives? " Sorry he was only 10 so I watched him burn that shop/flat down". What happens after that is debatable but when someone is endangering life they need to be stopped x

10 years old is not old enough to be responsible!! Their parents/guardians are responsible for them. I'm astonished anyone could truly believe otherwise.

any 10 year old out trashing the streets knows EXACTLY what
they are doing, they're joining in because they obviously have nothing
better to do, if they start letting those under 12/13 get away with
it then they'll do it even more because they CAN

you can't put a 10 year old in prison but you certainly punish them
they can hold a broom, they can carry bricks, they should
be make to make up for what they've done, you can't just say they're
too young to understand because they do understand, they're smashing
windows and laughing, it's a game to them and they need to be stopped!

Wen a radio reporter interview some young 'thugs'
The said they would continue till they were aught. 'Whats the worse the can do slap mywrist and give me an ASBO Ill take that!"

They know they are ding wrong, they do no care because there is no consequence to thier actions. Including from the police/community/thier own parents.

If the thought of a batten across the head stops 100 young pople going out tonight. I see that as a great thing

10 year old. Legally they can be punished by the law, any younger and they can't. Their parents and guardians are as well but that doesn't let the kid off. If one of those little shits set fire to my business or house or endangered my or my family's life then I sure as hell would want to kick the shit out of them too. (Doesn't mean I would, but the police should be entitled to use force if they believe its necessary).

These animals could have killed tonnes of people, babies, children, elderly, disabled, all vulnerable members of the community, its just by luck that people were evacuated.

Here is the attidue 'init!'

I think with the younger children involved in this, yes they should be punished but maybe in a different way, as I think alot of the younger ones happen to be there by chance and others are orgainsed and due to peer pressure are there and don't realise what there doing or not until it done. Its all clowded for the younger ones, not sayin they shouldn't be punished but I think in a different manner or way, but still enoguth that it will shake the younger ones up into not doing it

I am disgusted by this attitude.

I wouldn't expect or like to see a 10 yr old beaten. I do however feel they SHOULD be made to deal with the consequences to a degree. More going through the very scary process of being arrested PROPERLY and going to trial/court in the NORMAL way.

I'd hope that would scare the little sods into never doing it again.

The parents SHOULD also be made responsible too. Not sure exactly how, but they should.

I support fully the way the police have handled the "rioters" in that clip. I don't think any video of the police trying to restore order in the current situations would shock/upset/offend/disgust me.

Then the parents of these 10 yr olds who are allowed out at stupid oclock creating havoc should be put in prison for abuse....Surely any parent who lets there 10 yr old out into the late hours of the night is neglecting there child?!!!

They should do the time for them - Might make them parent a bit better in future!

You said it better than me Kitty

I agree once they are in custody the parents should be held accountable. But how do you propose the police stop them whilst they are starting fires, chucking rocks etc? x
