All these riots everywhere!!!

Really hope all you BnB ladies in the areas affected are safe and well :hugs:

And please excuse my ignorence but can anyone tell me how far away Oxted is from all of this? from what i understand its near Croydon? SIL works in Croydon on some main high street but lives in Oxted and im pretty worried :( we dont hear from her much as it is and i just wondered if she could have been affected

thanks :flower:x

Seriously what exactly are the government going to do... nothing!!! The only thing they can do is wait it out till the rioters get bored. Lets face it the arrested rioters will get a fine and thats it, this country is shocking with punishment.

I think around 7 of OHs shift have gone down to london, out of around 30 officers. And thats only out of 1 division of Greater Manchester Police. They are sending down the most experienced officers with riot training. I hope they have left some of them back up here otherwise they will be stuffed if it kicks off here too.

I hope they've left some good officers in the rest of the country otherwise it'll just kick off even more.

What I don't understand is where they're getting an extra 10,000 staff from.

Surely they can't be taking them from other areas?

Yep. Taking them to London when other places are getting it happen to them too, but their focusing mostly on London.

That is precisely what they're doing...

:dohh:

WTF do they think's gonna happen in places where people know half the police have been sent off to London

May refused water cannons, preferring a softer approach...'we don't need them in Britain', or similar...yet Gvts had no problem using them to control sectarian violence in Northern Ireland. Double standards. Horrendous.

What are the government actually scared of by using water canons ect?

The water bill?

Why is everything that happens always turned is to a race thing? Why can it never happen just because, why does it always have to be "black people feel this", "white yobs feel this" which is why it has happened?

Apparently they (water cannons) leave people feeling 'uncomfortable' - people can also struggle to breathe. They've never been used on mainland Britain before, I am just struggling to come to terms with massive double standard of giving police the ok to use them in northern Ireland.

Just read on the BBC live feed: 1155: Thames Valley Police say outbreaks of "copycat" violence broke out in Oxford and Reading last night.

Just got in and switched the news back on and I swear its getting worse all the stroies I keep hearing. There is just no good cause for it, trying to smash a charity shop window I mean come on. They are predicting the riots again this evening, really what damage is left to be done? Where else can this spread too, surely enough damage, heartache, and people being hurt in this. I am getting quite annoyed when I here small minded people chatting about it andf they actually obviously don't have a clue what there on about, I heard some prat say well they shouldn't be in this country anyways, I thought you plus they were born here! But you can't argue with some people can ya. I wish these people who have done all this would take a step back and see this isn't needed its not a protest, it's just a excuse, and in my eyes its so wrong using this guy who was shot as an excuse, really come on

Even the BBC news channel yesterday pointed out that the large majority of the 'protesters' are of Afro-Caribbean ethnicity , then they swiftly threw in the ''However not all'' comment to damp it down!

But they are right...
