My son will be 2 in a couple of weeks and this past week, he's started waking in the night. Absolutely no idea why. He's not showing any sign of teething. My 3 year old won't let him nap in the day anymore (which I don't mind as it means that they both go to bed a bit earlier) so I wondered if it was because he going to bed overtired but then when he does get to have a nap, he's still doing it. No signs of teething so I don't think it's that. I put a little beaker of water in with him at night in case he's thirsty but I don't think it's that either. When he wakes up, he'll be screaming the house down but as soon as I go in to him, he'll say "hello mummy" and be all happy just like that.

Feeling absolutely exhausted. This has been going on for a couple of weeks now and he can wake up up to 3 times. Anyone going through the same thing? Don't think I went through this with my 3 year old. He occasionally wakes up but not consistently like this.

Both my 2 did the same at night around that age - still do actually! They get their back teeth around 2 - could be they are moving in his gums but you just can't see them yet. And their imaginations get more active around that age too - could be he is having dreams that frighten him, or he imagines things I corners, etc.

My daughter (2 last month) went through exactly the same thing. Turns out it was her second molars (her bottom ones, top ones yet to appear)
She wouldnt settle at all at bedtime and screamed and cried and would wake up crying several times too (which is not like her at all, she almost always sleeps through.)
Once her teeth had cut she went back to sleeping fine. X

Blood sleep regressions, do they ever go away haha! The only reason i don't think it's teething is when he wakes, he's screaming but as soon as I go in, he's happy as anything so I feel like he just wants to get me up little monkey! He's so adorable (right now, he's trying to climb all over me and rubbing his nose against mine) but he's just not quite as adorable at 3am haha! x

My 2.5 year old has never really STTN, except maybe a handful of times around a year. But I did notice that sleep became really, really difficult at about 22 months? It was just a real struggle for maybe a month or so, for no obvious reason at the time (no illness, no teething, etc.). Actually, for us, I think now it had to do with a big developmental leap with language, where she went from talking in 2-3 word phrases to much more complex sentences. Once that calmed down, it got a lot better again (until a few months later she needed to drop her nap, dropping the nap helped a lot, but leading up to it, when she didn't really need the nap, but still napped, was rough!).
