My DD is 3 months and 3 weeks and she is suddenly taking really long naps. She goes to bed around 11:30 p.m (I know but she wont be bothered to go down earlier for the night) wakes around 4 a.m for a feed (she is breastfed) then back down til 9:30 a.m and usually she is up til 10:30 a.m has a 45 minute nap, up til 12:45-1p.m has a hour nap, up til 2ish p.m has a 20 minute nap then up til 4 has an hour nap and then got back down around 6 for a half hour, then she is up til 8:30 sleeps til 9:30p.m then she is up til 11:30 and down for the night.

But today she slept from 4 to 9:30a.m was up 20 mins then slept to noon. Was up til 2, slept til 2:30 up til about 3:45p.m and slept til 7 p.m!! I actually had to wake her up to eat and she wasn't happy about that! Then she was up for about an hour til 8:30p.m and napped til 9 and was up til she went to bed.

Is this normal, it had me crazy worried checking on her all day! And she's been a pain to put down for naps lately as my OH has just gone back to work (he was unemployed 2 months) and he usually set her for her naps, I just chalked up her fussiness to nap to her adjusting back to it being just me.

Is this normal? Growth spurt? She has a ped appt next week for her 4 month shots, is it something worth mentioning?

Could be a growth spurt approaching or just gone. I wouldn't worry too much. They go through stages like this. Mental leaps can be tiring, and teething too always exhausts my child. We get symptoms for up to three months before a tooth finally appears. If she's dribbling or biting more, it could be that!

She's been biting like mad!! Chewing on her shirts, hands, MY hands, toys, anything she can possibly get those little fingers on. I never thought shed be teething so soon, I know she's hit a tad bit if regression but seems to be evening to her old schedule again (she woke up from her 4:30 nap at 5:39 instead of 7 YAY!) But she has been going mad with gumming everything, which she only started to do last week.

My LO got her first tooth at 5 months, but we'd been seeing symptoms on and off since she was about 9 weeks or something! She was a miserable, sleepy state lol. She'd constantly nod off.

They do like to bite and gum as soon as they learn to do it - it's a precursor to chewing and speech and helps them learn about texture and desensitise their mouths ready for solids. However, some kids (like mine unfortunately) can be very sensitive to movement in the gums, even if the tooth is nowhere near the surface. Your LO may well be experiencing a shift deep in her jaw. It can be irritating and painful and they're still so little at this age that they just zone out because it's a lot to ask for their nervous systems to process such a new sensation. Kind of a blessing in a way, as once they're more mature, they outright refuse to sleep through teething pains despite being exhausted and devastated lol.

Whatever's caused your baby's recent change, rest assured it's totally normal as long as she seems ok in herself and isn't displaying any symptoms of sickness etc. Changes will happen a lot - EVERYTHING is a phase and you pretty much have a different baby every couple of weeks for the first few months or so!
