Always neg. OPK but then a BFP?

I was just wondering if any ladies here had negative OPK's all cycle and then ended up with a BFP that cycle?

I am just beyond frustrated with these OPK's. I am getting negatives and am CD 17. Perhaps I am being impatient but my average cycle is usually anywhere around CD 27, 28, 29, 30 or 31. Or perhaps this means I am just not ovulating at all?

I looked that up this cycle cause i wasnt getting a positive opk and i read alot of women say they never could get a positive opk but they did get a bfp so your not out just cause a opk test doesint turn positive good luck hope you get a bfp

Thanks so much for the reply Jess! The only thing I feel somewhat good about is that there is at least a faint line so I know I am producing at least some LH. Glad to hear I am not alone. And best wishes to you on getting that BFP too!

i HATE HATE HATE opks! the ones i bought were expensive and from my experience very sensitive, i've also read alot of information that says don't so them in the morning because your pee is too concentrated so them in the evening. So one month i drank and ate the exact same amount all day for weeks and left the exact same hourly gap between bathroom breaks so i didn't have a day where my pee was weak or a day where my pee was too strong. That month resulted in an entire month of negative OPKS and i definitly ovulated no doubt about it. So the following month i left my pee break for another 2 hours to maybe make it that little bit stronger and the entire 2 weeks i took these OPKs i got nothing but positives then i got my BFP. But i just think they are rubbish and too sensitive to the amount of fluid you've had that day. I remember the very first month i got a couple of positives then a couple of negatives then a couple of positives then a couple of negatives the whole damn month which is why i decided to research and realised i need to be more on top of my fluid intakes and times between my bathroom breaks.

Wow, sounds like a nightmare! Maybe my pee is too diluted? I do drink a lot of water and cannot seem to stop drinking for a few hours. Also, I am afraid that if I don't drink anything I won't have any pee come out to take the test! It is a Catch 22. LOL Tomorrow I will try to not drink water for 3 hours and see what happens.

I really wanted to avoid charting my temps but with the failure of these OPK's, I just may have to resort to that. Who knew that TTC would be for the birds? LOL Thanks for your feedback!

Hi hun,

I havent had much luck catching my positive OPK, but some people have really short surges, so you might have to test twice a day, even then you could miss it! Its common to still get pregnant without a positive OPK because some people simply never show truely positive but are still ovulating, we are all different

The only time I got a pos OPK - was because I was pregnant!!! I never had one before that!! I done a HPT straight away and :BFP:

Thanks for all the feedback! I think I am ovulating later than I think and possibly have a short luteal phase (which isn't good). I got a pretty strong test today around 1:30 PM but not dark enough but considerably darker than yesterday. I am going to test again tonight around 10 PM and see if it's dark. Hubby I BD'd last night and probably will again tonight. If I do get that positive, then BD it is for the next few days!

UPDATE: I finally got my positive OPK on CD 18! This afternoon at 4 PM it was almost there, then I tested again at 10 PM and it was definitely positive. I have attached both the Dollar Tree and Cheapie that I took. Both clearly positive. YEA!
