If it was me I'd agree, even though Maria isn't my cup of tea, but I would almost certainly give the baby a second middle name. I'm sure the child would be proud to grow up with her Aunty's name. The baby is his too and this sounds like a really important dedication. If my sibling had died (god forbid) I would want to name my baby in their memory. Upto you though.
