America versus UK

Over here I consider the sleeveless tops are tank tops for girls & dago t's for guys, short sleeve/long sleeve without the legs are onesies, sleeves w/ legs are footy pajamas or sleepers, tea is just a cup of tea, & we just do the typical breakfast, lunch, & dinner, or if it's a Sunday then breakfast & lunch is combined for brunch!

Oh & it doesn't matter if it's a pram, pushchair, etc. I consider them all strollers regardless of baby's age. And a crib is the "caged" bed with a mattress, bassinet is the sleeping device on wheels that is all frilly with lace, etc. & we do have moises baskets over here I just don't think a lot of people use them (but they are on the Walmart website! lol) And we have the pack-n-play/portable sleeping play pen.

Oh I totally forgot! In the US we say fries/french fries but in the UK it's chips, correct? Chips for us are like the Lays potato chips lol

Pack-n-play = Travel Cot in the UK

OOOOH I've got a UK versus UK versus USA one. Where I live we have a "tenfoot" which is the ten feet wide passageway for cars to drive down to get to garages behind houses where the back gardens are and the bin men come down it too. It like seperates opposite back gardens iyswim? What does everyone else call that? People from out of the area look at me like an alien when I say ten foot lol.

I think that's what we would call an alley in the US.

Never heard of a tenfoot for US or UK can only think of an alley way...but we would call a garden a yard and bin men are called garbage men...

Im in the UK and never heard of a ten foot. We had one of these at the back of our house when I was younger and we used to call it 'the backs'. Me and my friends would play in the backs :)

Oh got one. What's a council house? And what's a flat? I always assumed a flat was what we call an apartment - a building with several residences.

Apparantly American term "toss my cookies" means to vomit. Never heard this before B&B website!

A flat is what you call an apartment, but we now also have apartments which are just posh flats. Lol.
A council house is a house provided (and normally paid for) by the council (your local government) for people who need it (those without jobs etc).

Omfg: thats an alley or a lane! Are you from op narth? :P

Is this a sleepsack in the UK as well? I think I've heard them called something else around here.

Something else I've noticed (not really a word) is that so many women dress their baby girls in tights with shorts on top. I rarely see that where I am and have never seen a whole outfit in a store where you can buy shorts with matching tights. Doesn't it make it more difficult to do diaper changes? Just curious.

a council house is a house rented out by your local council (um like a local government authority) you have to be 'in need of housing' to get one and the rent on them is alot cheaper then privately owned/rented property. (the council is your landlord)

i call an apartment/ block of flats these

and a flat is where a house like this has been converted into 2 or more places to live

Okay now I have another question. It seems like your houses are all really close. We live in a community where the smallest yard is 100 feet by 100 feet - ours is 100x140. We don't have alleys behind our houses. Our yards touch. Our garages or driveways connect to the road in front (or if you live on a corner) side of our house. Are all of your homes so close together? Or is that only in cities? We live in a town of about 4000 people. Houses in bigger cities have alleys but generally not in smaller towns.

Sorry is this was mentioned, but I thought a moses basket was like an actual basket? In the picture with the bassinet, I could've swore before on here that, that was not the same as a moses basket?

Wife beater (bad name) is basically a white sleeveless undershirt that's really tight.
