Hello ladies
Firstly, thank you for sending through such kind messages. You have been so lovely.
I am no means an expert on miscarriages but wanted to post my experience on this thread as a way of not frightening people but informing them.
This is my second miscarriage this year. My first one started at just over 9 weeks in the New Year. Both miscarriages started off with brown blood (I know that brown blood is old blood and does NOT always mean miscarriage), turning into brown thicker runnier blood, red blood then cramps/contractions. I passed LO in the comfort of my own home and I was at peace. I had a scan a few day later which showed I had a completed miscarriage and no need for a d&C.
With this one, discharge started on Monday, followed by cramps on Tuesday pm, red blood, together with stronger cramps on Wednesday. By Thursday, I had stupidly cancelled my scheduled d&C as I thought I could cope with the pain. Without going into too much detail, I called the ambulance yesterday to take me to the hospital as OH was at work, where I had the d&C last night. The operation itself was absolutely fine, I have slight pain and bleeding.
Miscarriage is not a pleasant experience by far but with help and support, physically and emotionally, you can and will get through this. The ambulance and hospital staff who dealt with me were amazing, I could not fault them at all and deserve more credit and recognition for their hard work.
Sorry for mumbling and I know this is a website mostly about ttc, pregnancy and childbirth, the topic of miscarriage and what women go through needs exploration too.
If I have offended anyone, I am very sorry. Moderators, please take this message off if you feel it is inappropriate.
