Hi!
I know many of us have had potential negative news at scans, so this thread isn't meant to be specific to one diagnosis but a place for any who want to share concerns as we go through the rest of pregnancy together. Please share as much as you are comfortable with here.
My story: It's been a long time since anyone posted here about the potential diagnosis I received, so I don't expect anyone to have heard of it. Last week we had a level 2 US at 18 weeks. All looked good, except for a tiny measurement in baby's brain. There are spaces for cerebrospinal fluid in the head, called ventricles. Baby's ventricles were measuring 11.2 and 10.4 mm. Anything above 10 mm is considered mild ventriculomegaly.
Could be nothing, could correct, could be baby will have a big head. Also could be terrible in that they keep growing, resulting in various degrees of developmental disability and in worse case baby won't make it. How's that for a range?
We have another scan set for end of April to check sizing. The percentages are in our favor that this means nothing. It is just heart wrenching to balance as we were prepared to share our news beyond our closest family. I'm trying to make plans so my worry doesn't overshadows my toddler's birthday. I feel more balanced now that I've had a few days away from work to think more deeply.
Hoping for healthy pregnancies and babies for us all.
