I've just spent all eve researching about them again!
I really don't know wether to get one or not! I don't think I really want one cos I think it will male me even more parnoid esp as I've read about them going off by accident!
But then I've also heard people say how brilliant they are and how they can save lifes!

And now I'm back to sqaure one!
Baby will be in with us for 6 months, starting off in her moses basket right next to my bed, we don't smoke or anything and she will be sleeping on her back in a sleeping bag.
I never used any kind of monitors with the girls.

I've also read they can't be used in moses baskets as they have to be on a solid surface? Not sure how true this is?

Arghhhh why an I so paranoid about things like this drives me insane lol

I've been looking at getting an Angelcare monitor too so i'll be looking out for what everyone replies with. I think they look really good.

I will be getting one, I've not read any reviews yet on people saying they go off by accident. For me it will be worth the reassurance when baby eventually sleeps in their own room. I'm hoping to get a bednest for the first few months and not sure if I'll use it in that or not yet.

I've been researching them too :) I think i'm going to go for it and buy one as i've heard a lot of good things about them.

I have been trying to decide on this over the past few days and still havent! Lol.

I have read about them going off by accident sometimes and also about them not being used in moses baskets which would be the main reason why I would get one as the first few months are the riskiest I think. I have read a lot of good reviews but then also people still checking baby as they are worried the batteries have run out or something isnt working properly.

I went to a parentcraft class yesterday and the MW there said how rare it is and said the main things you can do to avoid it is baby sleeping on back, not smoking around or near baby (me nor hubby spoke) and to make sure baby is never too hot. I think when LO goes into her own room I may get a sound one but I dont think I would worry about her as much at this point (I could be wrong though. Lol)

Decisions decisions!!!

My Angelcare monitor got delivered yesterday, got the sound and movement version and have heard nothing but great things about it. x

I got one. You have to get a piece of plywood to put under the mattress for it to work so I don't think it'd work in a moses basket... I think its just extra peace of mind when baby is alone asleep. My little girl will sleep with us at first too, but during the day I want to put her in her crib for naps and stuff while I can shower and get some stuff done... so I think it'll be nice to have the movement sensor. Although odds are you'll never need it. I'm one of those people that like to go overboard with safety stuff because I just couldn't deal if something were to happen and it was because I didn't want to spend the money on some item. But I'm also a complete paranoid freak with bad anxiety... so it just calms me down. Lol

I used mine with the moses basket just under the mattress. Not sure if your meant to, but worked fine for me.
Also it only ever once went off-and that was a false alarm.
xx

I was looking for a monitor, wasn't too fussed about the movement but just wanted something decent as I'll need it if Baby is sleeping and I'm with Riley etc, so having looked around I found a lady from another site (doubt I can say which one) who emailed me saying she was selling one, hasn't used the movement mat and it's still in the box, she wanted 25(oiro) so I asked if she'd accept £20, and she agreed!

So, OH is picking it up tonight :happydance: the monitor we had previously which was a motorola 15 I think, and was rubbish, so never used it!

Can't wait for OH to bring it home so I can try it out :D will be a right bargain if it works :haha:

I have an anglecare monitor for Brandon I used it in the moses basket and I still use it. To be honest I wouldn't be without it. It really gives me peace of mind.

I am going out to get another one for this LO as Brandon will still need it until he moves into his own bed.

My friend has one as her baby refused to sleep on his back and she said its really really good.

I am thinking I'm going to see if my baby is a front sleeper (hopefully not!) and if it is I will think about getting one but otherwise I think I'm going to go with a standard monitor. However I dont think i'll buy anything until I've had the baby - as presumably for the first few weeks they wont be out of your sight anyway?!

We have the movement only monitor (had a video monitor already so didn't need the sound bit)

I bought it off eBay for £25. One of the best buys we made. We used it in moses basket and it worked just fine. Only "false alarms" weve had are 1) when the battery runs low it beeps intermittently and when that happens at 3am it kinda gets ur heart going and 2) a couple of weeks ago, dd rolled so far over she went out of the sensors fangs so it gave the warning beep.

I think it's a personal thing but we felt it was an essential item

i've got one and i think they're amazing. still use it for my 2 year old now. we used it in the moses basket without problem. but we did put a piece of plywood under the cot when she moved into it. although when we visit parents we just use a place mat under the mattress to put the movement monitor on. i think they're definitely worth the money and for me it made me the opposite of paranoid. it takes a while to get used to when you're half asleep and take them out of the cot to feed them as i used to forget to turn the alarm off but you soon get in the swing of it. there's an annoying ticking sound that can accompany every movement but you can turn that off so you just see the swinging pendulum on the monitor. couldn't have coped with a constant ticking noise all night!

Hi I am looking at getting one myself - can you give me the product number? Many thanks xxxx

I got one at my shower... Most of the time I will be using it without the sensor pad...I like the temp function all in all it's pretty good! But confussing sometimes with all the functions

A friend of mine lent me hers...so that is a huge $ saver. I got it yesterday...I will be using a moses basket next to my bed for the first little bit so not sure if I will use it straight away...but def when I move her to her crib in her own room :)

The Angel Care Monitor & Mat is what i got about 3 weeks ago online.
It looks really good and i have tested it but im just worried incase the alarm goes off and wakes the wee one up cos its quite loud but you can change the sensitivity on it and stuff and the temperature monitor is good.
Cant wait to use it.
Although i think i will just be keeping the moses basket next to the bed for the first little while.
So might not use it straight away.

hi hun weve brought the movement and sound monitor, for our own peace of mind really even though LO will be in our room for quite a while:flower:.

my cousin didnt get one because she thought it would make her more paroniod etc... but i personally would rather it go off for a false alarm than not have any warnings at all... if that makes sense (im useless at explaining over text lol)

:hugs:
xx

also i dont know if any of you know.... mothercare are going to be doing up to 50% off their baby monitors soon not sure when it starts but i'll let you know when i find out :)
