I love the name Angus, especially as you are Scottish. I think the nickname Gus is great too and it's a name that translates well through life.

Sonny is an Asian name and I think it would be odd for a Scottish kid personally but Angus is nice, good strong Scottish name. My sil wants us to call ours Hamish because we live in Scotland

I like Angus but dh hates it. Ds is Finlay which is pretty Scottish, plus we have a Scottish name so I wanted another Scot name, but it's a complete no go here!
