I saw a thread on c-sections scars and it got me thinking...

I'm almost certain I'll be having a c-section and I've been really curious about how the scar will look. People I've told about me getting a c-section nearly always have the same reaction: "but you'll get a terrible scar!" But these people haven't even had c-sections themselves! I've heard they've gotten better - smaller and lower. So those who've had one, how does you scar look?? Any pics you wouldn't mind sharing?? Has the scarring/recovery gotten you scared about doing it again?

Thanks a bunch in advance! I know this is personal and maybe a sensitive issue, so I really appreciate you all sharing!

I had a C-section with my son, 5years ago this November. My scar is horizontal, right at my hair-line. If I get behind in my "maintenance" I even have some thin growth above it. It's about 3-4 inches long. I wear low-cut bikini style underwear and my scar is covered by my panties, likewise with swimsuit bottoms.
The scar itself is a little puffy but has gotten a lot better since 5yrs ago. I do have a bit of a "pooch" underneath my scar from scar tissue. I didn't have any feeling in this area for a year or two after the C-section but the numbness has faded in the last couple of years.

A friend of mine had 4 C-sections and her scar looked awful. It was low enough to be hidden by any sort of underwear, so only people privvy to seeing her naked would get to see it. For each C-section they cut the same spot and her scar had gotten really ugly. She had a hysterectomy a couple of years ago and they again used the same spot for the incision - so essentially her fifth C-section. After her hysterectomy her scar was just a faint line and her "pooch" was gone. It was like they gave her a tummy tuck and cut away all the scar tissue. She was suprised and very happy with the end result.

Ultimately i think it has to do with your body type and the skill of the surgeon sewing you up. But regardless of both of those it seems that it's always placed out-of-sight.

Thank you so much, lots of great info! Really appreciate such a detailed answer :)

I had a section with my twins but it was 9 years ago, you can't even see it now x

iv had 2 sections...the 1st one the scar was left with a little bit of a bump to it, which used to annoy me! so wen i had my 2nd section i asked if they cud fix it for me and the surgeon was amazing and cut the bit out hahahah! looks great cant see it really....well i deffo cant now coz of bump pmsl!!

Most scars fade very quickly and are hardly visable, i worry more about my stretch marks lol x
