Hi ladies :hi:

I was wondering if any of your pregnant ladies have to have an anti-d injection at 28 weeks? I'm having to have it due to my blood group.

Do you know your partner's blood type? You might not even need it.

Hubby is A Negative like I am, so I get to skip those shots with my pregnancies even though I'm RH negative. :flower:

No unfortunately we don't know my OH's blood group so they said its best to have the injection just in case

Hi :) I had it at 28 weeks in my first pregnancy, then baby boy 1 blood was tested straight away birth, he was positive (which means dh is too) so I got another shot right then.
So just had my 28 weeks one for baby boy 2 a few weeks back and I'll get another after birth most likely!
My first shot hurt going in, my second didn't at all, looking it up it's pot luck, but don't be worried it's nothing major just stinging :)

I had this in my 2nd trimester too. Really is nothing to worry about. One injection into into the meaty muscle at the top of you arm. I had no pain during or after

It is nothing to worry about at all! I have had three anti-d's now, two with my dd and one with my angel. I found my arm felt a little heavy afterwards but doesnt make you feel poorly or anything. As mentioned above not many people know their oh's blood type so its always best to have it done - for your safety and that of future pregnancies xx

I had it with my previous 2 pregnancies and will with this one, it's a bit stingy but nothing major and over in a few seconds

i had it wiv dd and will again this time round over in secs all i remember is numb feelin after for a bit

I had it at 28 weeks and after the birth of my first two and will with this one as well. Dh is O+ and I'm A- so it's necessary but not a big deal :)

Thanks ladies I feel a bit better about it now.

I always worry what will happen If I need any blood after the birth :dohh::(

I am Rh- and had my Rhogam (anti-d) shot at 28 weeks. We didn't know my DH's blood type, but my son turned out to be Rh- as well, so I didn't need the shot after his birth. I'm going to try and get my DH to find out his blood type before 28 weeks this time!

It was no big deal, and didn't hurt at all - I got it in my butt, and didn't have any side effects.

Also, I don't know what it's like in the UK, but on the day my son was born, they did some extra blood tests because I was Rh-, and had some appropriate blood available just in case I needed it. I'm sure they do the same there.

Yep had it with both previous pregnancies, didn't have to after birth as both babies have same blood type as me. Nothing to worry about :)

If you don't mind paying a little out of pocket, he can go to a private lab like PersonaLab and get typed. That's where hubby went after the OB told him to find out. They were accurate and very quick with the result! :flower:

I didn't want to read and run, I didn't know what an Anti-D injection was, but I am sure it will be just fine! And whatever the side effects cause as far as getting the injection, just think of how much better it'd be than having to deal with the consequences of not getting it if your husband's blood type is RH positive. I am positive myself so that's probably why I never knew what the injection was called. Good Luck though!

Don't worry hospitals are geared up for this, I needed a transfusion after dd1's birth and had 2 bags 1 o- and 1 b- (my actual blood type) it's quite rare to need a transfusion though, I didn't with dd2.
