Hello

Can anyone help. My friend partner has been diagnosed with having antibodies at the head of the sperm. Little research has been done on htis to find out why and if anything can resolve this issue. Has anyone else have/had this problem and can anything be done to help?

Also my friend is on currently letrozole but whilst she has good healthy follicles her lining is a bit thin. Can anything be done to help thicken this up?

Many thanks in advance and good luck to all

Hi,
I have seen people post, that Red Raspbery leaf tea is supposed to help your lining but not sure.
Progesterone supplements may help.
Also if she is being treated by a doc - sometimes they will give estradoil (sp?) early on to help with the lining.

As far as I know, the lining of the womb is thickened by the production of oestradiol (estrogen). If she has low levels of oestradiol, then this may result in the lining not being very thick. I don't know if there is anything she can take, other than fertility drugs, to help thicken the lining.

As for the antisperm antibodies. I think the only way to get round this problem is with ICSI. ICSI is where a single sperm is injected directly into an egg during an IVF cycle. Basically, the sperm are individually selected to get the best quality ones, and I think the embryologists remove an outer layer from the sperm and then inject it into the egg. This procedure is used primarily for any male factor infertility issues.

I hope that makes sense and is of some help. There are some ladies in this part of the forum, that are dealing with antisperm antibodies. I'm sure one of them will be by at some stage to help.

xx

My DH had 55% antibodies that we recently found out but his count is high so we didn't need ICSI but did have IVF as I have problems too.

If your friend has low levels of estrogen but a good amount/size of follicles, the doctors should be doing additional tests to identify why these follicles are not increasing her estrogen levels. Some of the causes of this can have serious health consequences as she grows older (such as adrenal failure). She should see an endocrinologist who will be able to do more specific blood tests.

Hi emerald!
this is what I found in this research...https://humrep.oxfordjournals.org/cgi/content/full/21/12/3036
Treatment of thin endometrium
To improve uterine blood flow which may boost endometrial development, low-dose aspirin (Weckstein et al., 1997) and vaginal sildenafil (Sher and Fisch, 2002) were suggested in cases of RIF with thin endometrium. Many freeze all embryos when the endometrium is less than 7 mm and transfer them after stimulation with high-dose estrogens. Vaginal administration of micronized estradiol to maximize estrogenic effect (Tourgeman et al., 2001) or antifibrotic treatment with pentoxifylline and high-dose vitamin E (Ledee-Bataille et al., 2002) has been shown to increase PR in cases with a thin endometrium.
