Hi all

I have a second hand moses basket and need to get a mattress for it. Can anyone offer any advice on how to choose one?

I know the dimensions but not sure what I should be looking for when choosing one?

Thanks!

I think you don't get much choice with moses basket mattresses. Mothercare have 2 options £9.99 or £24.99. As they are not in them for too long, then I guess as long as it meets current standards either should be ok.

Babies R us sell them and Mothercare and Also I think Boots. They are all pretty much the same measurments to be honest. Aslong as it meets health and safety requirments then it should be fine. xx

The biggest difference is the same as cot mattresses,it really depends on what you can afford. I personally think it's worth the extra money if you have it. The two choices for moses baskets is the foam one at £9.99 or the coil/sprung one which is £24.99. Hope that helps :0)

Forgot to say...............i was advised that the foam one isn't as good because it's more likely to make them overheat ????,as in it doesn't "breathe" as well as the spring one!!!

they are all pretty much the same - I had a borrowed basket but I bought a new matress for it from M&Ps for £15 :)

Thanks for the responses.

I am happy to pay for a decdent one, as I was saying to hubby we have a decent mattress and babys spend a lot of time in bed, but don't want to spend a fortune if they are all about the same standard and safety, might as wel just get the cheapest.

We bought the £9.99 one from Mothercare. LO slept through the night in it from 6 weeks, so it must be comfy!

Some babies only fit into their baskets for a few weeks so I would strongly advise against buying an expensive matress.
