Was just wondering if any of you girls have any idea of what my chances might be of having another placental abruption, and having another baby born sleeping because of this?? I would like to think that in the future i would be strong enough emotionaly to have another baby, but im petrified that it will happen again. Ive googled placental abruption, and didnt like what i was reading... Has anyone else suffered a loss with this and then went on to have a normal pregnancy after??

Hi Natasja, we keep missing each other on here. I personally haven't known anyone to have this happen. I think this is very rare to happen again, but I am not a expert. I know what you mean about being petrified. I would love to have another baby but I honestly don't think I have it in me to go through this pain again if something was to go wrong. At this point I am still way to emotional to even consider trying again.

I wish you all the best in whatever you decide to do with your future.

Hi hun! I sent you a message the other day about SANDS?! I would try on there as I know there are a few people who have had placenta abruptions (is it prom?!) and they have gone on to have more children!

I am so sorry again

Hey hun, I'm no expert but I'm sure considering you have had a placental abruption which resulted in the worst case happening, the hospital would be more than sympathetic and would monitor you very closely, in fact I would demand the attention and you have every right to.

My heart goes out to you and your family.

The lady a couple houses down from me had a placental abruption at 30+ weeks (can't remember exactly how far along). She had a little girl - stillborn. She went on and had another girl, and now, just recently, a baby boy...both healthy. Get a good DR, and don't lose hope!

Hey hun... O.k my experience.. placental ubrupture 37weeks and 2days also resulting in stillbirth..
My gyni has placed me under as a special patient now.. if i have any problems with anything i can contact him 24/7 and when i do get my :bfp: one day... as believe me i was told my body will take 2years to recover before i will return to normal again... SO TRUE.. it is already almost 2years and i got my first natural AF last week.. note first natural "no meds assisting AF" in 2years....
The chances of having the same happen is 5% only if i do not change my lifestyle.. wich includes quiting smoking, losing weight and eating healthy with daily excercise.

REASON: due to me having 7 blood transfusions and my heart stopped twice as i was basically dead from the ubrupture.. But more so the emotional recovery takes alot of time.. In my experience it does take time.. and if one has the time to grieve take it.. It has personally helped me and OH to deal with the loss... And be more prepared for a future :bfp:...

Hey I;ve aslo sent you a message about sands. It is not PROM - that is premature rupture of membranes (breaking of waters). There is a section escpecially for placenta problems.
I have a friend who had an abruption and went on to have a prefectly healthy term baby. :hugs:

My waters did break at home, with a pop and gush, they were clear no blood in there. Blood only came after waters, and placenta followed straight after Bodhi. MW said it looked like text book placental abruption, but wont be sure till my appointment with consultant on 6th May. So am not sure if it was PROM that caused placental abruption. I was 36.5 weeks along when i went into labour and we lost our darling Bodhi.

:hugs: I know it seems a long time to wait until 6th May. I hope you get the answers you are after. My waters never broke with my abruption - I didn't even bleed as it was ocncealed. There was no known reason for mine. I hope you get some kind of reason or answer
