I have ahd this since first tri so sserious I've had to get medical intervention as wasn't getting any sleep.I just want to know I'm not alone...I fall to sleep and wake up 15 mins later or 20 mins and then find it hard to go back to sleep...Its driving me and my husband mad and having to get medical help with it is scary,

Anybody else going through this.???? I feel like I'm a freak I should be really tired not the opposite...anymore advice????

I'm experiencing bouts of insomnia but not to the degree you describe. In my first trimester I think it was excitement, fear, and all the typical emotions that go with finding out you're pregnant for the first time. My second trimester went a little more smoothly; but lately, the past few weeks (exiting my 2nd tri and entering my 3rd) I am again getting less sleep. Mostly I feel like I can't breathe when I'm lying down, whether I'm on my sides or my back. I spend a lot of time sitting up in bed. I can't sleep propped up too high and yet feel like I can't breathe if I'm not propped up high enough.
I did read that during the 3rd tri you can't spend as much time on your back because it's slightly suffocating and can cause problems to both mom and baby. But I'm also not sure if it isn't just psychological at this point. Regardless, I'm getting less sleep again and it's just adding to my cranky factor. And I AM tired all the time; ALL the time! :growlmad:

I had the same issue in my 3rd trimester, every time I would lay down I couldnt breathe and would get anxious.. come to find out he was so high up he was on my diaphragm. I had a c section and the second the Dr took him out I could breathe again. I didnt sleep for months!

Hi, I couldn't believe it when I read your post. It could virtually have been me that wrote it! I have no trouble getting to sleep but wake within about 30 - 45 mins (occasionally i get a whole hour!) and then I can't get back to sleep. It takes me hours! Once I do it's just the same... A short sleep and then I'm awake again. Im probably getting an average of about 2 hours a night. This has been going on since week 3 and I've been tested for allsorts but never given anything... Did you get given something to take? If so did it work?
I'm beside myself and literally sat in bed and cried the other night! :-(
