I'm almost 5'1 and at the moment 84 lbs and will be 11 wks pregnant tomorrow.

I have been looking into what kind of birthing options I would like to try but wondered if anyone on here had any suggestions??
My doctor has not approached the subject of whether or not she thinks my pelvis will be too small for a vaginal delivery and so for now I am reading up and trying to figure out what I think will be best for me but really needing advice please!!!

i was told that my pevis was to small to birth a baby but i did!!

Being small framed shouldn't have any bearing on whether you can deliver successfully. I know some tiny ladies who have given birth just fine! The relaxin in your body lets your pelvis open up. The baby's head can be squooshed anyway (hence the conehead newborns) and you can use different positions to help open the pelvis. I learned recently that a squatting position opens the pelvis an extra 33%!

Im only 5 foot 1 as well. I weight a bit more than you, but weight isn't all that relvant to pelvic size anyways. I had two vaginal births.

It's tough to wrap your head around, but height rarely has anything to do with your ability to give birth. Your pelvis will stretch and expand during pregnancy and labor to accomodate the babys exit. In very very rare circumstances women have a particular type of pelvis that is more similar to a mans pelvis and just cannot get the baby out. But that is VERY rare, statistically.
And personally, i know one person to have this condition and she is 5 foot 9. Typically your body wont produce a baby it can't fit out (outside of health issues like uncontrolled GD, etc).

I'm 5'3'' and 95 pounds. My OB wasn't concerned, and he was right. I had no issues giving birth to my daughter:winkwink: She was small (6 pounds) and born at 38 1/2 weeks, so it could have been my body decided she was getting a little too big or her getting cramped and deciding she wanted out:haha: I'm sure you'll be fine:thumbup:

I'm 4'10" and I only had to push for 10 minutes to deliver my 7 lb 2 ounce son. You'll be fine! Our bodies were made for it, and the hormone relaxin allows your pelvis to expand. Don't stress over it!

I should have mentioned, my mom had 5 vaginal deliveries, 4 of which were unmedicated. 1 of which she had a free birth at home. first twinge to placenta was only 2 hours! she is 5 foot 0

I'm taller at 5'8 but weighed 115 when I got pregnant with my first. I've always been pretty thin. My labor did end up being an induction, but I only pushed for 30 minutes. I was back in my pre pregnancy jeans a week after ds was born. Your body can do this!

My mom was about 5'0 and 90lbs when she had my siblings and me. All three were vaginal deliveries and one was unmedicated. She did go into labor 2-3 weeks early each time (not because of being induced - just naturally).

I should say that she was 90lbs before she got pregnant! Not when she went into labor :haha:

I'm 5'1 and size 8 and just birthed a 7.5lb baby. I did have a section with my daughter but I had a vbac no problems afterwards. I had bad spd before but I wonder if that was preparing my pelvis for the birth.

Good luck, you'll be fine!

Well, I'm 5'5" and pre-pregnancy, I weighed 108lb. Really thin (was due to stress). I gave birth vaginally and without pain meds. Everything went fine! Our bodies are very capable!

Pain meds is a 20th century medication. Look at all the different sized women around the world before pain meds made it into the medical industry. And remember back in the day, like waaaaaaaay back in history when young girls were married young in their teens, sometimes preteens, and they gave birth that young. Our body is pretty magnificent, let me tell you

I am 5'7" with wide hips and an hourglass figure and started pregnancy at 155--my doc told me my pelvic arch might be too narrow to deliver vaginally, so I don't think your body size or shape makes a difference, at least not the size and shape you can see yourself. I've always heard that it's your internal anatomy that determines it and in my case that seems to be true.
