Hey
It's been a while since my nursing interview but i can remember a few things i was asked!
We had to prepare a piece "What nursing means to me" (just a few paragraphs) to read at the start of the interview, to show that we had a basic understanding of what nursing involves. They asked me why i wanted to be a nurse and also what had prompted me, in particular, to apply at this moment in time. They asked me if i had read or seen anything in the news recently regarding nhs/nursing/student nurses which i had found interesting and would like to talk about (I would definitely recommend thinking of something, doesn't have to be anything overly complicated, as i think a few universities like to ask this one
) I personally talked about an article i'd seen in the nursing times which was discussing the rise of drop out rates among student nurses and possible reasons for it.
They asked me why i thought people dropped out and also what made me think i
wouldn't drop out. I think they asked me how my friends would describe me. Oh and they definitely asked something along the lines of "A patient is refusing their medication- what do you do?"
Hope that has helped a bit
I know how nerve wracking it is, but you're right- it definitely won't be as bad as you're imagining!
Oh and btw, there's a forum for student nurses/ wannabe student nurses, i'm a moderator on there, and it's very friendly and got lots of useful advice. Not sure if i am allowed to post a link to other forums and don't want to get in trouble but if you're interested pm me and i can give you the address!
